Oake & Pele pick of the forwards both very impressive.

Mateo looked the most dangerous

with Keating pushing all game...

What concerns me the most is that Bluetongue was near capacity with a strong eels contingent. As close to round 1 conditions as you could get and our intensity just wasnt there.

Where was Oake playing?? Backrow or front row?

Oake has always had a bit of skill AS a wide running 2nd rower. He's actually got a good pass on him as well if anyone cares to notice.

I remember in my playing days i hated trials. Sure i didn't have 18000 people there for them but you just don't have the enthusiasm or the level of committment that you do in comp games. Not sure why but it's pretty much inbuilt from when playing as a kid so many of the guys may have the same thoughts. Really only the lesser known players really have anything to play for. If you are guaranteed a spot for round 1, why risk things for a meaningless game.

Look, let's be frank. Oake has been crap and delivered little for what he has been on. Now it's a contract year, he suddenly starts shaping up. I'm not expecting too much from him, and I hope our management aren't contemplating re-signing him in a hurry.

why train at all then, just turn up for round 1.

While I can understand that the commitment will not be at the same level as a comp game, it still should be approached as any training session, you get out of it what you put in.

Players are on record as saying that a more profession approach to training has brought out the best in them on game day.

While that is true he was also used in the past as a bench prop which he clearly isn't. In the middle of the park he is up against blokes 10+kgs heavier. Used in the backrow much like Lowrie was he would be much more effective.

I'm not expecting much from him but he will be important to our title prospects as one of the prospective back rowers should injury occur he is the most experienced among them.

that's a fair stretch between putting your all in at a trial game to not training at all.

it was being more sarcastic than anything but my jist is trails are an extension of your training and should still have a degree of effort put in to get the most out of them.

The trial form, while nothing to panic about, should atleast ensure a sharper focus from the boys come round 1. They just cant turn up and pick up where they left off last year but once again will need to work hard to get results.

DA said his concern in trials were injuries so im guessing that perhaps he told the players not to go all out in case of injury and just get match fit rather than trying to win the game that means nothing.l
