Exactly. And quite a few times last season in his limited games he almost broke the line. I recall him almost scoring a few times.
Sure it is about balance. But last thing you want is a bunch of soft forwards.

Alvaro and Brown are much tougher than Terepo. That's how they can work so hard for so many minutes.

Brown yes....Alvaro vs Terepo is a close shave for me. Neither stands put more then other. Alvaro works harder while Terepo is more powerfull and a better defender.

Only because you're fooled by what he does before the line. Their stats are almost identical, Peni just does a lot less work. And Alvaro is a better defender

Martin Lang made a rep career out of looking good before hitting the line and won many penalties for what he did getting hit at the line

Good old Marty Lang.

Shame he can't remember any of it
Bullshit! It was all his hair. His luscious, thick, rockstar hair would just shake every time he got tackled. Made an illusion of getting hit high.

Ran hard before the line though, and got stopped on a dime

One stat you can't see though is how defenders feel after stopping him. You very often see the massive Terepo whack, only to see the defender walking off looking like that one hurt.
Sorry Stevie, I am confused by this.

"... you can't see..."
"You very often see..."
"Only to see..."

Can it be seen or not?

Pretty sure he was the reason for the saying "you can't run without a head." I'm sure I recall a day at Penrith where his head was actually removed from his body and had to be taped back on before he could continue.

I would say they just have more aerobic capacity. I'd have them both in the 17 ahead of Terepo, but there is a fair argument for his inclusion in the team. I just can't see which middle forwards should miss out. These guys are certainties IMO:

Brown
Evans
Mannah
Alvaro

Plus I reckon the coach sees Beau Scott as a certainty as well. It doesn't leave much room for anyone else. And with Takairangi in the pack now there is the need to find a spot for Moeroa too. He would be ahead of Terepo as well.

Probably a bit of both.

Essentially my view also. Peni is solid, does a better than decent job when needed and he'd probably be in at least a few top 17s. But he's not in ours

Matagi is good too and Vave is no slouch. Our wenty pack is better then our forward pack in first grade years ago.....

Terepo has 81 games in 5 yrs. He played about 3 or 4 last year due to injury. And didnt debut till rnd 8.
Out of 95 games 81/115 games. He did miss close to 20 last year due to injury and I am guessing perhaps another 10 due to injury over the previous four seasons.
So maybe 81/85 times been picked for first grade...

I think in that time though Alvaro has supplanted him. I think BA has a soft spot for both of them though
