This may be a great move by BA. It may bring out the best in Kenny when he gets his chance.
Let’s hope so FP.

BA sees all the stuff behind the scenes that we don’t see and obviously he felt the need to leave Kenny out if the starting 17. I’m sure his reasons are sound.

Sorry but don't like this side. Mannah and Alvaro together in the front row provide no go forward, yes they are solid defenders, but we need forwards that go forward. Auva'a on the wing can be a disaster in defence. I hope BA has stopped him coming out of the line and grabbing nobody and leaving a big hole for the attackers to go thru.

The Panthers have picked a huge pack and we'll see how our pack stacks up against them. Big test for our forwards there, if there is no substance to the rumours. If we cannot dominate them we'll be in for a long year against the other big packs. Now Bazal a comment from you.
WE'RE GONNA WIN THE f**kEN SPOON AGAIN JUST LIKE LAST YEAR!!!

I'm tipping we won't be attacking the Panthers through the middle. Not when they have the likes of Maloney and Blake defending out wide. And in defence we can stop anyone's go forward. We are the post-contact metres defensive kings FFS!

I am interested in who you expected our props to be... and our winger ?

I certainly didn't. Though I expected him to spend some time in the middle now that Takairangi is in the 17 as an edge forward. I assumed we wouldn't be able to get Edwards enough edge minutes, and I didn't think Moeroa would play on the edge at all.

Looks like Arthur's has picked the best defensive team, yet again.
Is Taka a better defender than Kenny??? He won't be missed in the centres defensively thats for sure.

He wants them all to be fatter!

I'll be shocked of Kenny doesn't play, offers more than Taka as a forward easily. I tend to agree he might shift Matagi out of the 17....yes that leaves us one "prop" on the bench but between Alvaro, Mannah, Evans, Tepai and Brown when Scott comes on we've got plenty of prop minutes...Kenny has played lock successfully too so there's potentially some middle forward minutes in him (although obviously better on the edge)

Then again maybe it really is a bit of a punishment. Who knows

Kenny is probably a better defender. But he's definitely a better defensive leader. He lifts us in defence when he comes on.

Have you seen Vaughan? The bloke is cut out of granite, not fat enough!
TBH I said Semi just because, Junior because I'm pretty sure glenny wants him back & Vaughan I just pulled out of thin air because I couldn't think of any other props. Feel free to change with Maria-Hargreaves

I'm betting that BA has backed Taka to be that defensive leader but without the silly shit that Kenny sometimes brings. If it fails, then we have some handy replacements waiting in the wings.

If that was the case Peni would be in for Matagi.

Last year we finished top 4. We have the same pack plus Evans. Why are we going to be in for a long year?

Yeah I think Scott does it as well and better than both of them. I reckon Kenny is mostly battling him (and Tepai to play a more middle role) to make the 17. I think Taka's there as the "utility" because he has slightly more value than Kenny. Granted they both have more than Scott again, but also good to remember this time last year Scott was starting and Brown was on bench

Yep we will be taking them on in the edges thats for sure. Maloney is a walking line break.

Because everyone else's packs got better?

I'm actually trying to look at who's packs got "better" (by glenneels standards). Dragons maybe, Knights I guess but not difficult there, Cows depends on Scott's comeback & Dogs if you think Woods is better than Graham (probably age wise). I guess Panfers too if you consider Cartwright was more of a liability than an asset
