Sorry but don't like this side. Mannah and Alvaro together in the front row provide no go forward, yes they are solid defenders, but we need forwards that go forward. Auva'a on the wing can be a disaster in defence. I hope BA has stopped him coming out of the line and grabbing nobody and leaving a big hole for the attackers to go thru.

The Panthers have picked a huge pack and we'll see how our pack stacks up against them. Big test for our forwards there, if there is no substance to the rumours. If we cannot dominate them we'll be in for a long year against the other big packs. Now Bazal a comment from you.

Agree about Alvaro and Mannah, together they are very weak. They were dominated when they started against Newcastle.

I am not surprised BA went with Taka over Edwards.
Apart from Scott and King, all of our forwards are internationals and Kenny isn't.
Simple really.

Taka is an international in the centres, in a poor Kiwi team that got knocked out in Quarters.

He’ll do a good job but I would prefer Kenny in the 17 somewhere.

Bullshit our bench leaves them for dead all the way.

We have a stronger bench, more settled halves and better centres.
They have better props and wingers.

Lets look at the bench

Scott vs JFH
Taka vs CNN
Matagi vs Mckendry
KE vs Leota

We edge it but not a lot in it...

I'm calling Alvaro to have the kind of year Brown did last season tbh.

Maybe not as emphatic because he won't get to play as many minutes, but he has gotten better every season...he looks like he's been pumping iron with hard merkins in the clink, he's cut out of marble in the training photos, his work is leaving the rest of the pack for dead too from all reports. At 24 he's right around the age most props hit their straps and he was already banging out some top shelf performances last year.

You mean we have stronger reserves right?
Who has the better second rowers?

Im tipping panthers forwards to give us a nightmare. Kikau,CNN JFH are some hard running beasts. S Mckendry along with Merrin have trained house down.

They will get great go forward from there two wingers. I dont buy into the dramas out there just yet.
Panthers 13+

Eels. Brown and Merrin are evens at lock.
Manu and Tepai are bette then Yeo and Kikau on present but I wpuldnt be suprised if by mid year those 2 are better players then our 2.

I'm betting that BA has backed Taka to be that defensive leader but without the silly shit that Kenny sometimes brings. If it fails, then we have some handy replacements waiting in the wings.

Well that implies that BA hasn't seen the silly shit that Taka brings...maybe he doesn't slap blokes (although I'm in the camp that maintains that was Auva'a) but he does just as much dumb shit in terms of mind-breakingly stupid errors and defensive f**k ups....

I’m shocked KE has been dropped.
Did not see that coming at all.
Where going to really miss his energy when he comes on the field.
His energy was huge last year and yes he carries on like a bit of a goose but I feel his positives far out way any negatives.
Massive shame

Taka is not international standard. He only made the NZ team cause everyone went and played for Tonga and Samoa. Edwards is a better player IMO.
