and of course with modern lefty identity politics you don't actually have to be Fijian or Tongan to identify as such, so I reckon it is about time the eligibility rules in ALL sports, not just league were updated to reflect this reality (as is already being done for blokes who think they're sheilas!)

What tripe are you on about?

You would have no problem identifying yourself as a grade A knob.

No the only rubbish is the shit they snorted up their hooters mate. I respect the jersey and the Kiwis Team. They didn't. Setting the bar for professionalism is key here. You suffer the consequences for making the wrong choice. It has to hurt them to get it through their stupid heads that they need to think about it good and hard. I don't know what your problem is with this. If you think this was a one off for them think again. Coke use is used quite a lot with many NRL players and athletes out there because it can leave the system pretty fast compared to other substances for recreational use. If they did it privately or with more class by not getting snapped on CCTV or phone footage then this would of been no issue. But they brought on shame to our beloved Kiwis and that cannot be tolerated.

Any way your moaning is NOT being listened to. Kidwell has put them in their right place and if they want this Jersey back then they do their best to overcome their bad choices. We got some good players making a claim for their numbers now. They best do the right thing or else Ka Kite International Career in a Kiwis Jumper.
Nah mate, they're guilty of being stupid, not shameful.

Shameful is bashing your missus and the Kiwis are happy to accept to accept someone who did that.

Your line in the sand in buying coke is a weird one when we've got proper crims in the team.

Grandparent rule and residency rule. I don't have a problem with either. They are stricter than many sports, including union and Olympics who happen to have bigger events than us so I very much doubt this is anything like the real issue why the RLWC can't sell out stadiums.
It is a factor. A squad made up of foreign born players indicates little growth in that country, so few fans as a result. This is definitely a major RL problem as there are so few fans from other nations travelling to a RLWC. Unlike a FIFA World Cup or even a RUWC the burden of filling up stadiums largely lies with the host nation. An Australia vs Ireland game at the RUWC would have thousands of Ireland fans, as was the case in the last one held in Australia, this wouldn't be the case in a RLWC.

Another issue is switching nations. Taumalolo and the other Kiwi defectors may want to help grow the game in Tonga, Fiji etc. but in all likelihood they may have inadvertently affected interest in the game in NZ. Read so many comments from NZ followers who have given up. To have a player represent a nation one week and then the following week declare for another national team, doesn't sit right at all.

I'd end nation switching, plus I'd set a limit on the number of foreign born players allowed. At least 50% being home grown players would not only indicate growth of RL in a country a by product of that would mean travelling support for that nation. There's far too much of a burden on the host RL nation to sell out the stadiums. The local population are also less likely to attend games knowing they will be watching opposition largely made up of players from the same country as their own. The grandparent/residency rule is ok, but a limit needs to be set.
