England need a scrumhalf for the opener, if that means the captain has no place in the team then so be it.

how does me saying i want widdop to get a full game at 6 equate to me not wanting him selected?

him playing full game at 6 against samoa, and starring, would put pressure on the 1st choice halves...him playing a few minutes in different positions proves absolutely f**k all!!

idiot!

You said you wanted him in the reserves side. That's "not selected" hombre.

so he can get a full game you arse clown...

i would have been far better for him to get a full game at 6 against samoa than get shunted all round the park as a utility against italy...

everybody can see that apart from you & steve McNamarra..

and i'm the clueless one

Great win for Italy..
Thought they could push for that 4th place finish if they had the likes of Gower,Campese,Knowden etc

I'm confused. Tell me: Do you think Widdop should be in the 17? Because in the England squad thread you left him out of your 17 and in this thread you said he should be playing for the knights, but then you blow up when I imply it's stupid to not select him.

And I'd also like to know, considering that you are now an armchair coach, which17 you would select v Australia, what rotations you would go with, and what sort of a gameplan you would implement. I put it to you that alienating one of the most credentialed talents in the squad in Widdop to the reserves is a poor start to your armchair coaching career, and morale in the squad would be low. But whatever, mcnamaras the nut and you are golden.

steve McNamarra has used the same 1,6,7,9 spine, when possible, since he took charge,he's blatantly trying to copy queenslands success....HE'S NOT GOING TO CHANGE THAT SPINE ONE THE EVE OF THE WORLD CUP...so im not going to waste my time whinging about widdop...all gareth has ever been in a england shirt is a utility sub.....a starting and starring role at 6 for the knight WOULD HAVE DONE HIM THE WORLD OF GOOD....yes i left widdop out of my starting 17....thats because he does'nt fit because theres no room for him on the bench...

widdops time will come, kev sinfield is likely to retire after the world cup..then he'll be englands number 6

and my starting 17 and game plan has been put out there a few times if you cared to look...but here it is just for you sweatheart..

1. tomkins
2. charnley
3. ablett will start against oz to counter GI
4. watkins
5. hall

6. chase
7. sinfield

8. graham
9. roby
10. hill
11. hock
12. sam burgess
13. o'loughlin

14. burrow
15. mossop
16. george burgess
17. tom burgess

for this game id go with the big pack and bigger bench..hit the aussies really, really hard...which will open up the game for roby and burrow from dummy half...burrow could have a field day late in the game imo....

Thanks for replying.

In my opinion it's madness to leave Widdop out of the side. Not only is he better than the other options at 6,13 or 14, he's been an integral player in the most professional, best resourced and most succesful RL club in Rugby League for a long while now. The sheer influence that he would have on the other players alone is reason enough to have him there, let alone his obvious on field talent: And you would leave him out. And Mcnamaras mad? Spare me.

Really? You've been whinging and making excuses since the game. You're trying to pin it on the coach. Fact is (as you alluded too), England didn't turn up and didn't respect their opponents.

This is a massive flaw in the attitude of English players. Tim Sheens has been harping on about respecting all teams because they're playing for their nation. Respect is owed.

called it when the fixture got announced that england could get caught out if they don't turn up..

guess what....england did'nt turn up,obviously got both eyes on next week...judge them on next weeks performance not a half arsed hit out..

roll on next saturday

Half arsed hit out that England lost.

just seen the number of interchanges...McNamarra fannied about with the team every 15mins..

he should have started with the team thats gonna start against australia next week..and played for a hour like it was australia we where facing.....then mess about for the last 20min..

Scapegoat.

its not the players...its the coach

go look at the interchanges...then come back

its far from perfect pal....

he should'nt still be experimenting with the 1st team a week before the biggest game for 5 years..

he should have started the italy game with his 17 thats gonna take the field next week...

and give the likes of widdop a full game at 6 for the knights against samoa....not 10mins at 6 then 15mins at fullback...

McNamarra is f**king clueless

exiles games are for experimentation....

last season tri series against wales and france was a chance to try out "options"

not the game before the world cup!

all copies should be burned then chucked down a deep hole...

This one was my favourite tantrum of yours.

This is supposed to be the year that England finally does it huh? If only the players could motivate themselves against far inferior opponents.

you will not find a england fan who thinks they could'nt do a better job than McNamarra..trust me..

you'll also find alot of england fans want to see how gareth goes next year without cam smith & cooper cronk holding his hand...

thats why it would have been good for him to have a full game at 6 against samoa yesterday..

ppsssttt thats exactly why kevin sinfield is there...and england captain too
