And ffs, blaming the coach like England have some handicap?

What kind of reputation do you think Tim Sheens and Stephen Kearney have?

let me clarify my point...

having studied all the match reports...i lay blame solely at the feet of McNamarra for chopping and changing the side...

So you're putting down the loss to Italy (who also used at least 20 players) due to chopping and changing of substitutions? Surely this game has brought up a hell of a lot more worries than that.

i said before kick off i wanted it to be a tough game, because it would have grounded england before the australia game,....but its one thing to battle against the other team..you should'nt have to battle your coach too cos he's making stupid interchanges.....rotating his wingers?? f**k me!!

luckily he can't do that next week

You don't really get the idea of a warm up or a trial, do you? It's more about practicing your systems under match conditions, giving everyone in the squad a run for match fitness and to get used to the contact that you don't get at training. It's not like a real game. BUT. Both sides treat it that way and despite the different nature of the game the team with the best players should still win.

how does rotating his wingers simulate match conditions?? cos theres not going to be any wingers on the bench!

how does giving widdop 25 mins at 6 and and 20 mins at fullback prove his match fitness??? would'nt a full game at 6 for the knights have been better?? course it would!

the interchanges...

65 minutes - England change Sinfield and G Burgess replace Tomkins and Mossop. Widdop moves to full back. Eng 14-12 Italy.
65 minutes - Double change for England Burrow replaces Chase and Hall for Briscoe. England lead 14-12.
50 minutes - Triple change for England Graham, Mossop and Farrell on for Ablett, Hill, G Burgess. England lead 14-12.
34 minutes - Charnley and Widdop replace Sinfield and Hall. England 8 Italy 12.
30 minutes - George Burgess and Kallum Watkins on the field for James Graham and Liam Farrell as heavy rain descends at Salford. Eng 8 Italy 12.
20 minutes - Hill and Roby on for McIlorum and Mossop. England 4 Italy 6

you don't change the play making engine of the team and expect it to play the same...its never worked like that...FOR ANY TEAM!

And you called me dumb. It's about giving them all of them a go, a taste under match conditions, should they be called on during the campaign. Ryan Hall gets injured in a pool game and is out for the tournament? At least no 2 winger has had a chance to play under the England systems in match conditions (albeit only for a short time). This is why both sides agree to unlimited interchange in these games.

thats why we have the england knights!!!

to give players proper game time instead of a 20min interchange

What would you be saying if Kev got injured in the 73rd minute after playing the entire match without being subbed and missed the tournament?

Roughy, you really are showing a lack of knowledge of the game here. In this day and age, trials are done this way. I went to an NRL trial this year, the game before the season proper and both the sharks and Manly had a squad of about 30 players each and they all got game time. At one point, both coaches made around 10 changes. Cronulla won the trial, but only because they had their best players on for longer. The time when it was top 13 v top 13 Manly won. That's what the coaches look at.

Why put Widdop at fullback you ask? There must be a concern around Tomkins physically (might be an injury, they might be thinking of resting him for periods) and McNamara wants to experiment with what he does if he has to come off. These games are about those scenarios, rather than the result.

My god. Still whinging.

shut it you..lol

even starting with the "australia game 13" for the 1st half...then swapping it about for the 2nd half, having widdop at 6 for 40mins,swapping a winger for 40mins,changing the pack around for 40mins...would have served england better than what actually happened...

you have to live on the south side of stupid not to think that would be better!
