I certainly agree that the quality of NRL teams is higher but for entertainment SL wins hands down.

I'm sick of the NRL's ruck rules - hopefully that will be addressed next season.

I swear I woke up early in Feb to watch Peacock, Ellis, JJB et al absolutely bruise the Storm in conditions that, quite frankly, favoured Melbourne's style of play.

Yea and we all saw what happened when they rolled up over here during our season in the world club challange, the hunter mariners put 70 on some side. You cant assess the quality of the games by sending over a side during the pre season.

All things being equal. If you took Manly and Leeds and had them play a game against each other mid-season, with their best squads in and in a neutral venue, Manly would be unlucky not to put 70 points on Leeds. Even with the over seas talent included in the Leeds team, the standard of Super League week in and week out is just nowhere near as good as NRL. You only need look at the average players that leave here for England and absolutely smash it up over there. I'll even give you an example. George Carmont was lucky to get a run here and is killing it in England. So much so that if he were naturalised as a Pom, he'd be in their touring team. He'd struggle to get selected as a backup Ballboy for the Aussie side.

It has happened before Wigan came to Brisbane (not even a neutral venue) mid season and gave the Broncos a lesson!!

As for England not competing internationally, these things tend to come in waves. I remember the Windies being the cricket team to beat in the 70s and 80s and now they are a bunch of no hopers. I remember India being pretty poor in the 70s and 80s and now they pretty much own our arses...

We are dominant, but in the 50s and 60s we were behind England in rugby league - and even France for a brief time? Things change, and change back again.
Nah it's got nothing to do with that, not where RL is concerned anyway.
It's similar to what happens with the Soccer over there.

England import so many NZ and Aussies that when it comes to their own national team, because they haven't used their money and resources on their own backyard they suck.

Look at them on Saturday night,I went to that game and it was just utterly embarrassing to see so many errors for what appears to be a professional national RL side.

If they focused their energy on bringing up their own players they would improve at international level and thus bringing SL closer to NRL standard.
And no SL is not even close to NRL standard,an NRL feeder club would not make the amount of simple errors in judgment and skill that goes on with England.

About time Australia fought back hard and had a couple of English teams in the NRL to finally put the Pomies Mickey Mouse Super League comp out of business and back to the back fields of Northern England where it belongs. All it would take is some people with brains and some forsight and know how to secure wads of cash that Buckingham Palace can only dream about to pull it off. Is David Gallop and his current team the people to pull it off?
Only if you believe in Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy and that Shell service stations only sell shells.

Why doesn't Australia fight back then? all you aussie are doing is crying about losing players. Bring in a rule where players under 30 who leave the NRL are banned from ever returning. That would make them think twice about going to the ESL or union.
