Its not the return of NS based in Perth at all. It's a new Perth club using the Bears brand.
Vlad also said bears have 200k members lol

I didn’t say north Sydney you just dreamt it up

Good to see a Perth team deciding to play one home game at north Sydney oval by coincidence

lol

return of a brand, being used by a brand new club.
Its not a relocation, its not NS's return, its not NS Bears moving to play some games in another city.
NSO was by insistence, not choice lol

If Balmain had gone with trigaboff they could’ve gone alone too. Harry was ticked off they didn’t go to him to jv the league club development rather than some random developer Benny Elias found.
Garbage
Balmain chose to go with Elias' developers in 2009, 10 years after they merged with wests.

10k? If the Vlandys 200k dont sign up then we want our money back!
what if the perth tv crowd doesn’t significantly rise above 8k like it currently is? Does that mean we ship bears back to another town and say see ya later we see aussies? works both ways except if ya a blind englishmen from hull with strong opinions on subjects he knows little about. you wax lyrical a lot but you fail to see your own numbers are rubbish at the current, all west aussies are is based on future possibilities and not because they’re banging the door down. I’m for west Aussie bears 100% but let’s not pretend that their case is 100a% undeniable. it isn’t, it’s all based on predictions and those predictions could easily fall flat faced and be incorrect.

it’s no wonder nrl want west Aussie gov to invest in pathways and infrastructure because imagine nrl invest on everything and the local public don’t turn out or bother watching after a couple lean seasons.

does anyone know for sure if the bears will one day fully commit to west aussies as in move all their operations and lower grades over and north sydney revert to more a third grade club and historical area? we are just in the assumption that only nrl club will be based there and fact is at the start it will no doubt but everyone is just guessing on what will happen 10-20 years down the line once west Aussie league infrastructure is actually good and sustainable. it would make sense if there’s a target date of say 2040 to have everything bears based in Perth tbh. maybe ask one of the bears people here that know what’s going on with the north’s clubs

anyways off topic this is for expansion threads my bad

For ALL Wests Tigers Fans
Press Release
7th January 2025
Wests Tigers Unite Welcomes the announcement that Independent Directors will be appointed this month.
Wests Tigers Unite would like to officially recognise and thank Shane Richardson, Barry O’Farrell, Julie Romero and Simon Cook for their open and clarifying statements via the Behind The Roar podcast. It is both gratifying and refreshing to openly see Wests Tigers and HBG representatives working together for the betterment of Wests Tigers.
We look forward with anticipation and hope, to the independent directors being appointed at the end of the month and the constitutional change that will go along with that as recommended by the Crawford-Barnier report. We also anticipate and look forward to the constitutional change necessary that will support independent directorship at Wests Tigers.
We, at Wests Tigers Unite are committed to ensuring the long-term success of Wests Tigers in its current entity. We acknowledge that our campaign will reach its conclusion when an independent audit is completed, finding that the recommendations have from the Crawford-Barnier report have been implemented in full and that assurances have been given in writing that there will never be attempts to reinstate Western Suburbs Magpies or Balmain Tigers to the NRL again.

how good is luai's positive energy that he has brought to the tigs. you can already see it via the body language and even players who seemed over it and had drastic drops in form (ie naden) have apparently come back better and more enthused about 2025 at the tigers.

hopefully things are on the up.

The glimmer of hope appeared last year when they got rid of Pascoe and Hagipentalis. Richardson has us in the right direction.

Ahh yes 'its the vibe'

My entire argument is that the club being purchased is what made them successful. Your argument was that Souths being booted out for 2 years turned them into the club they are today. When they came back into the comp they were the same shit show that they were prior to being booted. Less than 12 months after readmission the excitement had gone and their fans were back to having bumper stickers and reminiscing about Scott Sattler and Bob McCarthy.

They started to get a bit of cred and media exposure once Maximus got on board, prior to that it was borderline embarrassing to say you were a Souths fan. After the players started rocking up to games in Armarni suits and getting celebrities in the box the jerseys started going up and suddenly being a souths 'fan' was seen as the cool thing.

George did a great job in getting them back in, then went straight back to running them like clubs were run in the 80s, the board implored him to change but he wouldn't, he was running them into the ground. Luckily for them they ousted him, got Crowe and the Trust Fund baby in which made them what they are, or were. If Rusty didn't come along Souths wouldn't have survived past the 00s.
Not the vibe.

Getting kicked out gave that catalyst.

They're not great attendance last year either (similar population adjusted numbers as quoted) yet high revenue.

You've presented nothing as concrete to suggest otherwise

I had relatives who were very much involved at Souths in those days. When Souths got back in, Piggins wanted things run his way and it was very much "same old, same old". It was others who pointed out to George that "that doing things the same way" as pre-2000 was doomed to see them repeat their failure.

They were the people who were open to listening to Crowe and Holmes a Court, and they convinced the rest of the board. Its why George Piggins was so bitter, he took it personally whilst everyone else looked at it as a way to do something sounder.
