Ritchie Blackmore should be higher up the list

Carlos Santana should have been in the top 10

That list is ridiculous, can't stand RS anyway, just a bunch of sell outs. I'm a huge Nirvana fan but their charm was in the simplicity and rawness to the music, there is no way on a technical level that Cobain is in the top 100 guitarists of all time. To list guys like Gilmour below him is absurd.

THANKYOU Salivor.

It's refreshing to read someone admitting that just because they love a band it doesn't make them the best musicians on the planet.

I agree 100 percent with you

Cobain deserves his spot imo. "Guitarist" doesn't just mean yr technical ability ffs.

Nirvana would be in my top 3 bands of all time but there is a lot of sentimental rubbish amongst fans at times, I'm even guilty of it. The facts are that Cobain took simple Beatles and pop tunes and brought it to punk/grunge. He's got a great catalogue behind him but technical ability does have to count for something and he was also quite often very sloppy in concert.

yep fuggen ridiculous list.

however....
Duane Allman ?
If it is the dude I saw on fox at some sort of trucker hat wearing redneck convention I will have to agree.
The bloke was a freak.
They were playing this almost rock country shyte and he was all over it.
He was insane.
He had a moutachio and tight hillbilly jeans .

Kurt wrote great great songs .
His guitar ability wasn't anything spectacular but his ear was bloody creative.

BB king ...pppfffftttt he plays the same lick in every song.

what the f**k is Kurt Cobain doing on the list?

Anyone who can take three power chords (or intervals before someone arcs up) & make squillions out of em deserves recognition!

Surprised Knopfler was in 27th.

Yes I'm a Nirvana fan. Yes this is sarcasm.

Just watch Nirvana unplugged, even his sidekick was better.

Allman I'm pretty sure was the second guitarist on the studio recording of Layla, not a bad combination with Clapton.

f**k I love that song.

Never heard it until I played GHII and now I'm try to learn it on real guitar, shame I don't have any musical ability.

Satriani is a technician. He has no soul.

So f'in true.

Some things wrong with that list:
No Slash
Jack White @ 17
Kurt Cobain.
Tony Iommi so low

So anyone that has soul is a great guitarist? it'a a lame excuse.

For once people should just listen to the music at hand, rather then just listening to what peoples opinions have to say.

IMO one of the best guitarists of all time was Chuck Berry, why? because players like him influenced the likes of Hendrix who then in turn influenced Clapton & Eddie then so on.

For me great guitarist is based on who they influence, obviously the more guitarists play a certain musicians music the greater the appeal of that guitarist is.

I don't know many guitarists who have Kurt Cobain as there number 1 guitar influence.

Slash hasn't been included in these polls since Gunners, i remember years ago he was listed at number 3 of all time on a similar list, wonder why:sarcasm:
