SHARKS legend Andrew Ettingshausen has called on his old club to punt flashy winger Blake Ferguson.
Ettingshausen was shocked to learn that Ferguson had requested to use an escape clause in his contract to leave at the end of the season.
"If he wants to move to another club and his heart's not in the right place, the club should get rid of him as soon as possible," Ettingshausen said.
"He's obviously got talent, but if he doesn't want to be there, then move on. Someone should tell him there is only one winner every year."
Ferguson upset Sharks fans before last weekend's match against the Bulldogs by announcing he wanted out as he didn't believe the Sharks could win a premiership.
Coach Ricky Stuart is seeking the opinion of his senior players to determine if Ferguson will remain in first grade.

Thats all I ask, the players should have the final say in all this.

It's a good idea, the players obviously have the best idea of how his actions are affecting the team.
Personally though, IDE have given him the old heave ho a while back, just on form alone.

Well if true I would not expect to see him turn out for the rest of the year.

However I don't think Sticky is as concerned with what the senior players thing as he is looking to his own future, so I think he will see out the rest of the season.

JC, I agree. The great man should be listened to. I am just disappointed that the great man didn't speak to Blake Ferguson in person to let him know what he thinks (maybe he did). The last thing that this club needs is more airing of 'dirty laundry' after what happened last year and with what has happened with the Damian/Ricky, Damian/Richard stuff. In my opinion, it is bad enough that Blake Ferguson went public with his thoughts about the club. It's just unfortunate that the great man went public with his too. The great man is the greatest living Shark. We don't need him drawn into making public comment about this type of stuff.

I didn't see ET carry on like a prima donna when he started his league career or bad mouth the club...I agree with ET Fergo should be punted.

He doesn't want to play with the club, so if he can't committ 100% then one has to question will he give 100% each week.

Don't release him early this year (thats the easy option for him), but send him to park footy to remember where he was playing 5 minutes ago in his short career.

He should be gone, and I never thought I would say it, so should Ricky, time to move on.

I would also like to say I am a little disapointed in ET he should have some role in the club, but then again mybe he has been kept out, he needs to get involved, him and Miller, I would like to see the old players more involved and raising the profile of the club

I wouldn't drop him.

I'd play him in the front row.

After Fui Fui and Petro have spotted him on every run he would have somethin else to whinge about.

Is he gay?

The team had been getting consistantly better - remove the origin performance. The coach was not he one out there today dropping all the ball. That was truly disgraceful.

f**k him off now.... and hopefully someone gives him a couple of slaps before he goes.

Sounds to me that his actions indicate he is a couple of floggins short of being a good bloke.

Cheers

When ET has to come out to say punt him you know it's a bloody obvious decision!!

Why does Ricky Stuart have to ask the players?

Weak as piss he is with the bleeding obvious!

i thought the ball movement was good

barrett and smith both having bad games and throwing hard gymnastic passes meant dropped ball galore

its the risk you take with a passing game as center of the game plan

who wants to go back to safety first?
