Old timer exactly this ..... I dont like what I am seeing with the way the club is heading , JD leaving Mary given the coaching again . The problem I see is we do not have time on our side we have wasted 6 years with no building or improvement . What ever happens with Doust , Mary needs to happen now , improvement needs to be quick or this club will fold ( my opinion )
You know what worries me even more is if some of the things people say on here ever came true.
Imagine next year if Dugan, Widdop, LAM, and a few others were let go or left and we maintained the same coaching staff and recruitment policy?
Then for sure we would be a carcass for the hyena's to pick over.
We built poor foundations in quick sand and whilst we are sinking we continue to make the same old mistakes.

They seem to be grooming us for complete failure , or they know something we dont .....

Old Timer I am quite happy with Dugan at fullback and rate him quite highly in our best half-a-dozen custodians such as Langlands,
Goodwin, Potter, Johnson, Boyd and Preston I never saw Brian Graham play but I am sure that he also was an impressive player.
I was just saying that is injury prone.
Unlike most others on this Forum I believe that we will make the Top 8 this year because we have significantly strengthened our forwards and have replaced a couple of our weak links being the hooker and half-back. I believe that the players are so pissed off that they will ignore the coach and play their own game and put in a good dig most weeks. I believe that Hutchison will come up to the mark as he will get fitter and has good solid skills and reliability like say George Evans or Rod McGregor which is what we need at half-back not a fancy dancer.
I am with you Old Timer and believe that Glymin should get one more year and be picked on merit only being mindful of our experiences with the unfortunate Stanley brothers.
Up the mighty Dragons and have a nice hot chocolate tonight!

From an attacking perspective Dugan does not rate amongst the best to wear the No1 Jersey

Langlands was from another planet
Goodwin had amazing acceleration and was an unpredictable full back and centre
Johnson was a tremendous full back
Boyd was a quality full back without having the individual brilliance of the others I have mentioned.
Dennis Preston was a good full back who lived in the shadow of Langlands.

Duges doesn't enter the conversation as an attacking full back.

As a Defender, only Langlands was better.

Who is going to nurture them? Ronald McDonald?
While I agree with most people on this forum about McGregor's qualifications, I am not that stubborn to lay 100% of the blame on him.
His play makers have a thousand games between them. If you can't lay 50% of the blame on them...then you need to find some peace of mind or anger /blame management.
There are definitely better clubs for these kids to become better players......but the cream always rises to the top.

Yep agree ,McGregor is a shocking coach ,but the theory by a lot on here that he is the sole problem is rubbish, the players have to be accountable for their performances and barring Tyson Frizzell ,Russell Packer,AND Dugan, the rest should be embarrassed at the crap that was dished up to the fans this year.

That is why the joint needs a big clean out,too many going through the motions, the reason some of them lifted in 2015 was they either thought their spot may have been in jeopardy or they were looking for extensions, AhMau and Matthews spring to mind in that department, and they were both rubbish this year .

The players are given a game plan by the coaching staff and they have to execute it. It would have been better to have no game plan and execute the coach.
If the game plan is shit then of course the outcome will also be shit.
The same shit game plan was trotted out game after game after game so that is at the coaches feet.
Benji was never a 7 yet game after game after game he was picked there so that is at the coaches feet.
Lafai was shit from round 1 yet game after game after game he was selected so that is at the coaches feet.
De Belin is not a ball player but game after game after game he played that role so that is at the coaches feet.
The bench was used appallingly game after game after game so that is at the coaches feet.
The halves never had a chance with Mc Gronk at the helm.

The team will continue to play that way with Mary as coach . There was never a plan B or if there was it was the same as plan A . The players needed to play what was in front of them not being so structured all the time . Since Morris left I can't remember the last long range try we scored .

Is it just me only or does anyone else instantly always think "Exited for 2017" instead of the actual title of this thread? Sums up my feelings at least....

In 1st grade it was the Lafai effort against Souths but that was due to the Souths defender not being back on side and Nighty's quick thinking from the tap restart so not actually an attacking break.
Actually I think Wakeman ran further for his Cutters tries than anyone did in 1st grade.

Only the players and coach will know how much freedom they have to play off the cuff.
I'd be surprised if there was no freedom given the amount of experience these 2 have.
I'm sure crabbing across field was off the cuff.
And as bad as the coaches plan was, all there for us to see, he didn't drop the ball 4 times in one game against the Broncs.

AND you can add :

Nightingale getting in the way of the forwards and taking 20 hit ups a game. I am absolutely mystified how the coaches tolerate this.
