Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. Ozzie and this board communicates better showing to the sponsors the rosy future ahead.

They might've also had more bargaining power with other Sponsors wanting to takeover the jersey rights thus upping Pirtek's sponsor. And that in part is due to our on field performance.

the new sponsors may have very well fallen through - but at least they didn't throw their hands up in the air and accept defeat... they've either gone out and sourced new ones to compete with pirtek (as yy just suggested) or they've marketed themselves well enough to current sponsors to stay on board and give us a bit extra while we're at it...

In the current climate, i wouldn't expect it would take much to make a potential sponsor change their mind...

exactly, it's not as though we never already had sponsor, so to think they were only going to replace existing sponsors is a bit egotistic.

not sure anyone on the board actually made those statements either, just a couple of their 'proxies'.

If they managed to push Pirtek up to $1mil then that's good enough for me. Pirtek may well have had a right of reply to whatever offers other sponsors may have made. We just don't know. Pain Away was a new sponsor anyway...

another thing to consider in all this is that when the last contract was signed Pirtek had their hand in a lot of different sponsorship areas, in particular rallying. They may not had been able to finance anymore that what they were.

I think that parramatta is now their main focus and have the additional money to throw at us. It is also good to see the support they give to the parra family (the athletes who train out of the parra gym).

Well duh. You can only fit so many sponsors on a jersey. It's the $$$ they are paying that matters, and new sponsors means more competition and more $$$.
