Why do I think some people (who are not on the board), were basically talking out of their arseholes about what would be delievered in terms of sponsorship?

But as you said, if Pirtek have upped their deal (mainly due to the success of the side and exposure last season no doubt), then that's a good result for the club and that's the main thing. It's up to us whether we see through the agendas as to who was/is demonised and who takes credit.

we had one of the lowest in the NRL i think previously...

maybe Hages has come back, and applied some of the theoretical knowledge gained in his business degree to negotiate the deal?

I read on-line somewhere that Pirtek now have a 3 year sponsorship agreement with another 3 year option. Obviously they are happy to stick around long term. Good stuff.

Yep they also confirmed that at the annoucement yesterday. should someone tell them we wont be here in 5 years....

Well we did get Pain Away which from all accounts was a well sought after sponsor

I could never be disappointed at the signing of a major sponsor, but it's interesting that none of these promised "new boys" have jumped on board.
Maybe Pirtek made us an offer we couldn't refuse??
Anyway, I'd expect that we'd have somthing "else" tied up real soon, as promised by the new regime.

Would be great to see, but I am quite sure PainAway have the rest of the Jersey, so maybe if this was a bidding war, the other company will not see any value in sponsoring the shorts. Or might no see value in sponsoring a side the plays at a stadium named for a competitor.

If we had a mediocre year last year, I doubt we would get near that much now.

If it is a Million then that is well in line with what we should be getting as a club, but the last time we needed a major sponsor was after 2004 when we were going busted, and the renewal was in 06 I think when again we took a magnificent dive to finish 8th and go out the back door on the back of 3 straight losses, (Brisbane, Cowboys, Storm), but before that we were on a bit of a late season charge.

It is good to see us signing sponsorship deals after doing really well on the field, and proving the value proposition.

I remember when we were getting $750,000 P.A from Asics, up until the Australian CEO died in the job and his successor when on a cost cutting spree. At that time Asics had the Title, and complete Jersey sponsorships, Although it was only Front, Back (Top) and Sleeves back then. That also allowed us to introduce the Back of Jersey, Parramatta branding below the number which lead the NRL to adopt the Back of Jersey below number sponsorship for all clubs.

If 3 years ago the queue consisted on Pirtek with daylight second, we may have had to take what we can get.

It does.

Exposure from the Final series for Pirtek would have been worth so much to them. They got very good value from the Eels last year.
