expansion of NSW Cup

Seriously guys, it is a romantic notion to have the traditional teams play but do the comps seriously need them? Why not look outside of the traditional clubs for new clubs that have the cash and can link with an NRL team like Mounties has?
Surely there are some big clubs like Goulbourn Workers or Bathurst Panthers who can cash up some bush teams?
Albury is a great rugby league city, and a one team town to boot.

Until NRL field a desperate Reserve Grade NSW Cup will continue to be be a poor atempt at a State Cupn

Definitely a need for a national reserve grade comp. Move the NYC back to a state comp alongside the NSW Cup or as a 9 week comp as in the HM and SG Ball.

I heard rumour the bulldogs (NRL) will also be linked with the Wyong Roos as well as have their own nsw cup side. Plus all the juniors. This maybe a rumour ...has any one else heard this ??

No, but it would not surprise me. Will there be any thing left of the Coast after Newcastle, Manly and possibly Canterbury take thir pick.

How would a reserve grade affect the NSW & Q Cups? That's the only issue I'd have with a full blown reserve grade however I do believe an actual NRL reserve grade is required

Why doesn't the ARLC and NRL go outside of the square.

A national open age NRL reserve grade comp.

NYC (U20s) - returns to a 9 week state based comp (Jersey Flegg)

The NSW & Qld Cups become semi-professional (say, U25s) comp - catering for the possible late bloomers. And the Ron Massey Cup (third tier) - open age.

Just an idea.

No teal effect in Queensland as there are only 3 NRL clubs who share players across two clubs

In NSW we would lose Manly Canterbury Newcastle Cronulla Penrith Warriors

Simple answer comes from the Bundy Cup where most of the test have 7heir reserves playing

You would still have Wenty Mounties Norths Newtown Wyong Illawarra. Windsor could come back as could Cabramatta and Wests and Ryde Eastwood

Then a simple addition of country regional team of Western Rams. Riverina, New England and North Coast

And a perfect spot for Perth and Adelaide

Funding structure is now right and a final against the Qld Cup winner is perfect

Hahaha I've heard Sharks/Wyong, Roosters/Central Coast, Wyong/Newcastle and now Bulldogs/Wyong far out, surely Central Coast/Nth Syd or Central Coast/Manly is the way to go...who makes these decisions ?. This is after Central Coast/Sharks, Central Coast/Storm, Central Coast/Knights of previous years.

Before NYC the U20s was not a 9 week long comp and the idea is to ready these young guys for NRL football. They would not get the same interest from young players that will switch codes and the junior talent will be diminshed.

To all the others that want to manufacture teams and have teams in the NSW Cup that arre from remote areas, do they want to join? and how will this be afforded?

Wyong said from the outset that they want to be a stand alone club. The Roos do not want affiliation with any NRL Club.

I find it hard to believe any of the rumours are true.

Flegg was for many years. HM (u16s), Ball (u18s) and Flegg (u20s). Grade started with U23s.

Having just said that I decided to ring a couple of people and it looks like they will be looking at affiliating with an NRL club.

They didn't say which one though. I'd say either Newcastle due to Rip Taylor's close association with them and the relatively close proximity between the two clubs or the Dogs.

I've heard the Newcastle rumour but its all one way traffic with Newcastle able to draw on players like Mitch Williams but none of Newcastles own contracted players dropping back.
