Perhaps not.. but that is something a ref would never be able to prove, so a drop kick or a general kick.. it was STILL a kick sorry. It was just pure million to one luck it turned into a try thats all. Just like it was pure million to one luck Gasnier wasnt given more ball to run over Utai ;-)
Attempting a drop kick after five minutes? Definitely not.
Completely different to the Gasnier play, competely different rule. No one dropped a ball. Players have to play to the whistle on the offload.
I take it you agree that the video ref had to decide the time frame between the ball hitting the ground and the 'brush' it had with the boot afterwards.
I know Marshall is made of teflon in some quarters, particularly in the media of late... but sorry, he dropped it cold. Would have been a knock-on nine times out 10. IMO, it was an embarrassing decision for Marshall, WT fans and for the game itself.
Of course this had nothing to do with the end result. The way I saw it, the game restarted again at 6-all, and we had a handy 12-6 lead at half time - the game was there to be won or lost in the second half.
We should have gone for the tap five minutes before half time. Turning point for mine.
