F.O. Dallin...

Maybe we need to buy one in.. someone's already mentioned we dont seem to have any NRL-ready outside backs coming through just yet, but there's a whole stack of quality wingers off contract in '27 that maybe we can prise away early with a decent sized offer.

All the disruption at the Titans could mean Khan-Pereira is open to being tempted away. We have a couple of ex-GC lads who could put in a word...

extended last year
That looks like horrendous business in hindsight.

To be honest I almost fell off my chair when I saw that Dallin isn't 30 yet.

Dallin, the person, is a gem. I almost feel bad about slating the player he is. He carries well. I don't think he 'misses' tackles much. But geez I reckon he's got far too many flaws in his game to think he's a starter for this year, let alone the next two. Is it fixable? Surely it is. But has it been fixed in his time at the Warriors? No

We really need a value for money outside back signing, and one that isn't Morgan Harper. Someone who's come to us and done a job in the past, like a Justin Murphy, even a Gerard Beale who is solid enough. Taine is a jet and I'd have him on the wing this week, but he's more in waiting to get the 1 when CNK/RTS go

It’s the left edge D causing the problems for Dallin on the right

““When they moved the ball to the left, we were too tight for them,” said Webster. “Our middles and our left edge weren’t winning those tackles, therefore putting the right edge under pressure.”

yep, so if the left edge and the middle tackle, then the ball wouldn’t go to the right and they wouldn’t miss those tackles. So it isn’t so much Dallin or Kurt’s fault. It’s Erin’s and Wayde’s

“I’m confident this week will be their best together. It’s tough when they don’t get consistent reps and players are in and out, but they’re world-class. There are no excuses.”

Misplaced confidence from Webby.

And as I always say, I know little about league so I'm just going to have to believe him when he says defense on the other side of the field affects why Dallin can't stay on his man and Capewell misses tackles

The sin bin was a bonehead play but the two tries down his edge seemed to be pretty obvious cases of Capewell zeroing in on the 3 man (I think that’s what they call the 3rd man in from the sideline?) and so DWZ had little choice but to jam in on the centre. In both cases the numbers didn’t look right (looked like a 3 on 2 or 4 on 2) so I’m not sure if it’s a case of Capewell needing to have more faith in Boyd, or if the inside men are not working hard enough.

Yeah, maybe Boyd is an overlooked issue here. He certainly defended poorly against the Knights.

Titans' first try, to me, looked like 100% a Capewell issue. How could he have known the numbers weren't adding up when he flew in on a guy who was out the back? Then he slips over to further F it up. For the one Foran laid on, I reckon you're right too - Capewell jams in on the backrower, leaving Fifita free which DWZ feels like he has to cover, then it goes over his head and he slips.

So fair enough, I reckon DWZ was damned if he did, damned if he didn't...but has so much previous form, it's easy to blame him. Plus the sin bin was just so dumb.

That side on D needs fixing up, because it's the predominant side of attack for most teams. You know the Phins are coming for us down that side, with Katoa/hot Herbie and whoever is on the left wing. Yikes.
