Holla if ya hear me said:
Defence is about 'attitude'
If your in the "ZONE" then it almost comes naturally.
We had it in round 1 and V the dogs this year.
As VOR and has been mentioned previously-MILLER CANT GET IT DONE!!! simple as that.

If you look at the roosters-they WANT to tackle-they love the SMASH
If you look at ours yesterday-no one WANTED to tackle or even HIT!
Wrong attitude and wrong coach.Like school kids..If the regular teacher aint there..its play time :(

Imagine if Johns was out there..Capt. Cranky would be ropable!!!!!
Holla MILLER wasn't the coach on Sunday. One week of Miller doesn't turn the team onto a negative attitude, they've had that for a couple of years and Hagan was the coach then . As Nuffy said look at the Roosters, the dif is chalk and cheese.

There is a distinct difference between doing something because you want to do as opposed to doing that same thing because you have to do it. It looked to me that we had only a few players doing positive things because they wanted to in the first half.

How right you are! So many of our players look like they would rather do ANYTHING but tackle. If you look at the top teams, their players seem to ENJOY the tackling. It is an integral part of the game, and why get into it if you don't want / are afraid (?) / can't tackle? At this level it should be an auto response - opposition player has ball, I tackle. Or at least make a decent effort to stop him.

I really think we lack leaders in the club, a leader doesn't have to be the captain, just someone who will pull the players into line if things go astray.

Capt Cranky is brillant at it but yesterday after the Sharks had scored early in the second half, the players stood behind the goal line like easter island statues, someone should have got them together and ripped in.

Thats the problem with a capt like Gids, he's just too quiet.

I don't know of Craig Miller or the PL coach but the results aren't there, how long do we hang on before we need to realise that.

Instead of blaming the stand-in coach, how about you put some of that blame on the players who are supposed to be professioanls and who get paid a fairly large wage. Surely, no matter if they like the assistant coach or not, they can put up with him for a couple of one off weeks and put in the effort that a first grade side should alays put in.

If they can't, then Newcastles problems go much deeper than who the assistant coach is. And if that is the case, you should all be very concerned.

You are right, and some of us are very very concerned........

After the previous losses to the cowboys & melbourne, I bemoaned the lack of a effective game plan. Yesterday it wasn't tactics that beat the knights (other than effective ruck running) it was just poor defence.
tigermite is right on the money here.

the defensive problems are part of the inexperienced side thats being playing for most of this season. think back to round one...the knights defense against the panthers was of such high quality, it was being compared to the roosters defense of last year. there are so many factors that played a part in the loss. the boys pretty much didn't show up in the first half; when kicking kidley was never leading the chase like he does every other week; the lack of an experienced leader in the team; the absense of a fantastic coach in the lead-up to the game as well as the absense of buderus and kennedy; the exhaustian of players, im sure the bye is gonna be a godsend for them. all these played their roles in the game. the sharks offloads were brilliant and the knights did nothing to secure the ball in the tackle. the sharks are leading the comp in offloads this year and the knights should have been aware of this.

Maybe it was the lack of a tailored game plan.
