It's a poor state of affairs when expressing support for Sheens is frowned upon on this forum.
The alternative is to join the anti-sheens brigade for verbal blow jobs all round.
Well I'll be jiggered - you mean there's an alternative? I'd have thought there were any number of alternatives. Maybe you haters need to keep reminding yourselves that we are black, white and gold these days. It's not just black and white any more...
Going back to Ol' Blammo's comments - yeah it's true that teams who don't cheat have trouble hanging onto their Grand Final heroes. But teams who don't ask for more of their coach tend to find themselves on the scrapheap more often than not.
No one doubts it's a tough competition, but no one in here claims the Tigers aren't good enough. No one really expects to win premierships at a dramatic or alarming rate... But everyone wants to be in the running, and when you've got Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah in the side there's really no reason why we should not be up there for keeps. The problems come back to recruitment and treatment of players.
There's been a bit of a change to the way Sheens does things this year - there has been less experimentation with playmakers and all that. He's cut some of the dead wood. He's got us a specialist fullback, a gun winger, he's taking a bit more care of his pigs... He's brought in Folkes to run the bastards around a little more than they're used to. All things he should be given credit for - and look... we're in the finals!
Is it any wonder we look back at the last four seasons and ask - what exactly is it that you've been trying to achieve, Mr Sheens?
If Sheens walks at the end of the year I'll be happy. I hope he does it after we win the Grand Final. If he stays, and he keeps us on our current path, then so be it. If he stays and we fall in a heap again, then he should be sent straight to a noted taxidermists and put on a pedestal for all he's enabled our team to achieve.
In that case, he should be kept in the lobby, and never ever wheeled out to the training paddock again. I don't care how many heroes of '69 or '05 are giving photo op's to the assembled press, he just shouldn't be allowed near it...
