If Macnaz's claims are true, I expect the following reps to line up.

Broncos: Ben Barba
Bulldogs: Josh Morris
Sharks: Nathan Gardner
Raiders: Edrick lee
Cowboys: Lachlan Coote
Dragons: Brett Morris
Eels: Jarryd Hayne
Knights: Akuila Uate
Panthers: Eto Nabuli (3)
Rabbitohs: Alex Johnston
Roosters: Nene MacDonald
Manly: Brett Stewart
Storm: Marika Koroibete (2)
Titans: James Roberts (1)
Warriors: Glen Fisi'ahi
Tigers: James Tedesco

Simona is supposedly faster than Tedesco in sprint trials and there's a bloke in Tigers NSW cup called Corey Brown who's faster than him.

Michael Morgan is surpisingly quick. I'd like to get a cheeky $50 on him for a top 3 finish.

Each team should just put their fastest player forward and let the race begin in their footy boots on the footy field, one try line to the other.

For me, I would have to say I would like to see these players go at it as I personally think they are the fastest in the game - (In no order)

Shaun Johnson
Kevin Gordon
David Mead
Marika Koroibete
James Roberts
Jarryd Hayne

If I had to guess and put them in a order -

1.James Roberts
2.Shaun Johnson
3.David Mead
4.Marika Koroibete
5.Kevin Gordon
6.Jarryd Hayne

Why don't the organisers of the Auckland 9s put a race on? $50000 Prize half to the player half to the players charity of choice.

The Titans blokes could well go 1,2,3 if that lot had a race.

Jennings would be 2nd last, and by about 30meters, but only because Billy Slater was pretending to be hurt, after falling off the pace in the first 10m. Not sure how those 2 blokes are in the conversation for 'fastest man'!!

Granted Billy isn't in the conversation but if you think for even a microsecond he would feign injury and not be giving his all to win then there is no help for you....

Silly concept. The better the player the more likely they have intentionally gained weight to be less like a sprinter and more like an NRL player.

The fact Hayne won this event previously and is again one of the favourites just proves how much of a freak he is. If he trimmed down he would kick all their butts.

I don't think anyone is suggesting the favourites have trained to be a sprinter's build they are just young and haven't filled out yet. It is not a silly concept, just a novelty race that doesn't impede anything.

The young Knights winger Jake Mamo is very fast from what I have seen. He would have to be up there in the top 3 or 4.

Meh James Roberts doesn't look that fast,Hayne almost caught him and it didn't even look like Hayne was trying,Hayne hasn't been playing 100% fit either

James Plod almost run down by an injured Hayne

Starspangledbanner would annihilate all of the plodders mentioned in this post over 1000m at flemington.

Bunch of walkers.

Good point. He would make sure he completed the race so he could attempt to injure all those who beat him.

This could be a great contest if each club picks its top 4 fastest players, then they compete separately in 8 heats of 8 runners, with no player from each club competing with a player from his own club.

4 fastest from each heat go to the quarter finals.

Then 4 quarter finals of 32 best, followed by 2 semi finals of 16 best.

It should be arranged in the heats so that players from the same club cannot meet until the semi finals.

Still it would be possible for 4 players from one club to make the final.

I would spread it over two days in conjunction with the Auckland Nines. Heats and quarter finals on day one. Semi finals and final on the second day. That ensures no player has more than two races each day.
