There has always been rifs between band members like iconic drummer of the Police, Stewart Copeland and Sting, Noel vs. Liam Gallagher from Oasis, The Beatles, Paul McCartney vs. John Lennon after Brian Epstein died, Stevie Nicks vs. Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac, Guns N’ Roses, Axl Rose vs. Slash.
What about Pink Floyd, that was huge.
The one that cut deep for me was from my favourite band gowing up and that was betwen Supertramp's Rick Davies vs. Roger Hodgson.
I loved their music. They entire band complimented each other even though they didn't have perfect vocals. It just worked.
But these musicians let pride and ambition destroy their bands.
Sadly Davies died this year from a long illness, cancer I think.
This is my fav song that features him mainly on keyboard and vocals. Sounds good live without overdub too.
RIP Rick, legend.

Our own Tommy Emmanuel has been playing guitar and touring since he was a kid.
Acoustic guitar legend Chet Atkins awarded Tommy the "Certified Guitar Player" award which few have had bestowed upon them.
Tommy often performs solo because he needs no backing.
This clip is an example, all the sound comes from him playing the guitar.

His brother Phil was a phenomenal guitarist too. I used to watch him play at the Journeys End Wine Bar in a band called Gillian Eastoe and King Dog.

Phil tragically passed away some years ago.
I think the Journey’s End closed down too (not sure).
It had a square ‘hole’ in the second storey floor, so you could watch the band from above.
I asked Gillian out (she was gorgeous - as well as a great singer) but she politely informed me her husband was a gigantic truckie. I should have done my research I guess.
