What are your favourite venues for seeing live music? For me it is very hard to go past the Metro, when sold out it is unbelievable, such a good atmosphere in there

Enmore Theatre is also a great spot to watch music.

In Brisbane, top three for three very different styles of shows...

1. The Tivoli. Probably the best venue IMO (easily the best indoor) - holds around 1200-1500 full, great vantage points, awesome setting, decent bars, great atmosphere. Good for all shows.

2. The Riverstage. Doesn't work for all shows, being an outdoor natural amphitheatre which fits in around 10,000 people. But throw a couple of bands which can work a decent crowd, like The Cat Empire, and it's sensational when the weather's good.

3. The Zoo. Best place for intimate live gigs - only holds a few hundred or so, but absolutely top notch.

I saw some awesome gigs in the Iron Duke Hotel. Shame it got turned into a Tapas bar.

Agree - can't go past the Metro.

Depends on the band, but I'm a great fan of the set up and sound of the Enmore...

For smaller bands with a more relaxed feel, the Manning Bar is brilliant. My highlight of the Manning Bar is seeing Dark Tranquillity put on a brilliant performance and genuinely showing the crowd how much they were enjoying themselves...

Don't mind the Gaelic all that much, but the pylons are pretty annoying.

I like the Metro and Enmore.

Worst venue by far I have been to is the Arena in Brisbane. Saw KsE, LOG, Unearth there and I was appalled they chose that venue considering the popularity of those bands. Didn't help either that whoever was running the sound had everything, and i mean everything, up to f#$king 11. I couldn't distinguish what song was what when Unearth played it was up that loud.

Outdoors, i thoroughly enjoyed Soundwave at the Brissy show grounds this year, besides the quagmire at the metal stage due to the rain the night before, I thought it was a superior venue to the previous years riverstage.

Metro - no venue in Australia is better when it's full.
Annandale - saw Future of the Left there...amazing gig and atmosphere
Enmore - Saw some great gigs there in the day

Backroom (Great Northern, Byron Bay) - one of the best Pub live rooms
Espy (Melbourne) - sh*thole old building but again great atmosphere

And probably my favourite old (dearly departed) venue:

The Playroom, Gold Coast - was awesome back in the day, got knocked over for a car park. Shame.

Metro when full is just an incredible atmospher, the crowd sloping back up the stairs and around the balcony type thing. Had some great drunken times there

The Hi-Fi in West End has GREAT sound and is a very good venue.

The Arena in the Valley is the pits.

Metro, Manning and Enmore are old favourites.

Newer venues I also rate: Oxford Art Factory - very intimate. The Forum - like the tiered set up

Metro.
I went to heaps of gigs at the old Caringbah Bizzo's, loved it there even theough it was so small, Guttermouth there was still one of the best gigs i've been to.
Roundhouse goes ok too, as does the Annandale.
Don't mind the Lansdowne either, and you can get $5 steaks, bonus!

Mentions for the worst, Luna Park, saw nofx there, and hilltop hoods, didn't like it.
