Bulldogs backrower Jamie Feeney is set to leave Canterbury at the end of the season after he was offered an early release from the final season of his contract.
Feeney bursted onto the scene in 1999 when he scored two tries in his first grade debut against Auckland including a try with his first touch of the ball. Feeney has struggled since he won Country Origin selection in 2002 and has lost his place on the Bulldogs interchange bench following the emergence of Reni Matua, Roy Asotasi and Sonny-Bill Williams.
There were reports last year that Feeney had a falling out with coach Steve Folkes but was given first chance in the top 17 this year but has been over-shadowed by a new group of Bulldogs talent along with State of Origin representatives Andrew Ryan, Willie Mason, Mark O'Meley and captain Steven Price commanding starting spots.
Wests Tigers have already been linked to snaring Feeney with Manly and Souths also likely to express interest in the hard working and mobile backrower.
