I just want to bring this youngster to your attention. This kid is good infact he is very good. He has sublime skills who has a big build and is killing it in Jersey Flegg. He playing style is that of a Jason Smith /Dymock style very skillful and he can score a try. He has struck up a good combo with Tim Smith who also is impressing at No.7. Anyway don't be surprised if u see feleti in the 1st div soon and hopefully 1st grade next year at lock or 2nd row.

With all the shit that been happening to our club its still good to see We have some real good players especially in the halfs coming through in the Flegg/Sg ball lets hope they can come through and play top grade at Parra.

I totally agree. This kid is a pleasure to watch and can get some points on the board.

I'm affraid to say it! but this kid looks too special for my liking lets hope we nurture him through the grades slowly and don't expect too much from him too soon. Having said that he has first grade written all over him and for some reason I have a feeling we may see him pop up late in the year.

Looking good in the Juniors is one thing , looking good in first grade is something completly different. Time will tell if he makes the step

Some players have a tendancy to fly into first grade ie, Ashley Graham, Michael Witt and Justin Tsoulos. It is not unrealistic to say that a memeber of the Jersey flegg squad could be in first grade by the end of the season.

Brendan Oake is another talented player in Jersey Flegg

I ear marked FM at the World Sevens in 2003 when playing for his school.

The best young talent our club has seen for a long time, let's pray our club does the right thing by him.

Good player this Feleti Mateo, I have a feeling he wont get a go because Smith will sign some useless reject from reserve grade. And then FM will become successful somewhere else.

If Smith refuses to give any youngsters with talent a chance then how the heel did Hindmarsh, Lyon, Vaealiki and Cayless just to name 4 of the top of my head ever play 1st grade

damn some of you people can bitch with the best of them

Yes some very talented people have left the club I'm not denying that and sure some of them may have been cause by Smith again I've never denied that.

However not every single bad thing (or at least bad in your eyes) have been because of Smith.

Hodgson's mother died which effected Brett's performance for a couple of weeks
Hodgson got kicked in the ribs by Langer in the 2nd Origin
Hindmarsh fell off a quad and needed surgury on his wrist
Vella lost his hair
Stu Galbraith retired
Peter Sterling's shoulder was stuffed
Parramatta lost the 1977 Grand Final Replay

Are we going to find ways to blame this on Smith aswell?

And how many rookie has he blooded since 2002? The answer is: 3 or 4.

Between 1998 and 2001 it was more like 15 - 30.

Just saying that he seems to have gone cold on juniors recently. The rookies that have come through recently have been Witt, Graham, Prince and I can't think of any others. The likelihood of this guy getting a shot based on this is low.

Witt, Tsoulos, Armit, Graham, Webster, McMillan, Petersen, Mogg, Heckenberg, Meads, Tonga - O'Dwyer looks set to make his debut. And these players have debuted in the previous two seasons. That is 11 of which only three have left. So no the answer is not three or four.

Webster, Petersen, Heckenberg, Meads and Prince had all played at other clubs so I'm not sure if they can be counted but that still leaves

Graham
Tonga
McMillan
Tsoulos
Armit
Mogg
Witt
and possibly this week O'Dwyer will also join the list.

That is 2002-2003 Rookies with O'Dwyer set to be the 1st for 2004

In 1999-2001

I.Hindmarsh
Grothe
Wheeler
Sullivan
J.Cayless
Marsh
Richards
Lyon
Irvine
Vaealiki
M.Hodgson
from the top of my head

Vella, N.Cayless and N.Hindmarsh were all pre '99

yes it is more but you can't expect to find a Lyon or N.Hindmarsh every year

That I strongly disagree, and how the hell can all those bad things effect the club, they have got nothing to do with Smith, he wasnt even around at Parramatta most of those things. Stu Gailbraith???   pfttt. Sure he played a few good games, but he wasnt the best halfback in my opinion. Not a big loss.

You mention Cayless, Hindmarsh, Vaeliki and Lyon who are representive players the key to the club. Smith back then was good enough to see the eyes in those youngsters and give them a go in first grade. 1997-99.

Smith has lost the plot since 2003 in not only buying players and losing good ones, but also some of his tactics which have been disappointing. There are problems and I hope they are fixed.

that is my entire point

people blame Smith for things he had no control over so why not those aswell.

My house got broken into last week, its Brian Smith's fault I was out at the game watching them loose while my house got broken into.

Ridiculous.
