The attack stat will be a bit more complicated, since metres are are more important to forwards than to halves and metres are misleading stat for fullbacks.

Definitely. Goldy has been kind enough to calculate positions for players, so now we need to figure out how we're doing the rerate ASAP.

Once that's done, we can recruit new coaches and get the pre-season drafting etc. done.

* Fullbacks - rated by metres gained, tackles scored, try assists
* Wingers - rates by metres gained, tries scored
* Centres - rated by effectiveness, tries scored
* Five-eight - rated by try assists, tries scored
* Halfbacks - rated by try assists, organisational capacity (discerned)
* Hooker - Rated by tackles, organisational capacity (discerned)
* Front row - Rated by tackles, metres made, damage (discerned)
* Second Row - Rated by tackles, metres made, try assists, tries
* Lock - Rated by tackles, try assists, metres made
* Utilities - rated by tackles made, try assists, tries, x-factor (discerned)

... then go from there?

I'd argue that all players need to be ranked by defense for their defense scores.

For attack I agree with most of yours, but I'd metres gained to centres, line breaks to centres/wingers/fullbacks, line break assists to halves, try assists and metres to hookers, and offloads to forwards.

I'd like to avoid the discerned ones, as we can bring those to bear for rerate requests.

WHat stats do you need? I'm a stats type of guy

Tackles, tries scores, try assists, missed tackles etc. In a database form so I can cut it up for each player and make sweeping assumptions for their ratings.

Once we have the NRL guys rated, it should be relatively easy to go through and rate the ESL guys with the NRL guys as a basis for comparison.
