why have contracts anymore?

Every time a player gets a better offer overseas they want to get out of there contract but if a club asked a player to leave because they are not playing well enough to justify his salary (i.e Ben Ross/Sharks) then the player would tell the club to f**k off and say that they intend to honor there contract. I hope that the eels start forcing players to see out the length of there contracts and I am glad the the Bulldogs are refusing to let SBW out of his contract and have threatened to sue if he walks.

(Castleford) Chief executive Richard Wright admitted Cas were in talks with players for next season but refused to disclose any possible targets.
"We've been looking for quite some time. Overseas signings can take a long time to process and we're working patiently towards a successful outcome."
Already linked with Hull KR's Ben Cockayne and ex-skipper Ryan Hudson, latest names rumoured to be talking to the Tigers include Bradford wing James Evans and Parramatta forward Fuifui Moimoi.

I will deadset blow up deluxe if we lose another player from our top squad, I know for a fact that we lost John Mannah because he had 5 props ahead of him, including his brother.

we can't afford to be losing players of the calibar of Fui and not replacing them.

Maybe not being able to afford (under the cap, or afford in general) is the key issue behind letting all these players leave tehir contracts early if they get offers?

Not a good situation when most of your money is tied up in a coupel of outside backs, when you need some money directed to having/retaining some quality up front, and in the halves just as much.

Let him go goes guys.

The guy is 28-29. He doesn't have much time left in the game. Over the years, I would say he was on a pittance. It's his chance to make some decent dough before he retires. If he plays 3-4 years there, he could come back set for the rest of his life.

If he stays here, retires, he'll end up labouring or something for the rest of his life.

Think of Fui, not Parra/yourself. If he had the opportunity, I would let him go out of humanity reasons.

Losing Fui would be disasterous, but only because the club has so little proven front row talent at its disposal.

Normally, I'd say a guy who is getting on in years (footy-wise) and has given good service for a number of year deserves to be able to pursue such opportunities. It would gut us, though.

No....any real Parramatta supporter will stop supporting the club if they let Moimoi go...

thats a fact
^ is this guy an idiot?

kudos to him if s/he posts this crap just to get reactions. worked a treat.

anyway......my two bob worth - i think we'd be crazy to let fui go. he is one player that brian smith once described as, and i paraphrase, could make a lot of yards in a short on-field cameo.

seems to have really found his feet at parra and worked on his fitness and defensive technique in recent years. i think he would be our most effective prop right now.

Fui's best footy is past him IMO.

We need him on the books for next year.

After that? Not so sure.

Agree with Fish. He has been average with a few good patches at best this year. Having said that I wish we would stop being the charitable employer and tell some of these muppets to honor their contracts as we do need him next year.

we definitely need him next year but i would imagine that he could be allowed to leave after that, along with a few others, to free up some $$$ as we have a lot of guys coming off contract after 2009 and 2010 as well as obviously needing some injection of new players.

lets hope its not all spent on upgrading other peoples contracts though!

FMD. If people think Fui is a priority to get rid of in our pack, I fear for our future.

IMO he is our only genuine asset in the front row stocks. He also gets paid a fraction of our other props, despite his on-field contributions being superior.

I reckon Fui is a gun player but I understand why the club is looking to move him on after 2009. Keep in mind that this is still 1 & 1/2 yrs away and the issue is his age - 28 years old now, closing in on 29 (according to the Daily Tele today), and would be over the age of 30 by the start of the 2010 season. I can understand why we might be looking beyond a 31 year old prop forward as our saving grace.

Who cares about his age, just as long as he gets the job done. Losing Fui would be costly i think.

No doubt Fui deserves to try to make some money. I recall an article suggesting his contract from 2006 or so was about $80,000 a season because of his bad judiciary record.

If that is correct, he is our best value player in the whole top 25.
