Fien set to remain in NRL

By Josh Rakic and Adrian Proszenko | May 24, 2009

UNWANTED Warriors halfback Nathan Fien will sign with a rival NRL club in the next fortnight after yesterday rejecting a last-ditch effort by English Super League club, believed to be Huddersfield, to secure his services in a deal said to be worth about $450,000 a season.

The World Cup-winning halfback was last week told by the New Zealand club his services wouldn't be required next season despite his hopes of staying on, before dropping him for today's clash with the Raiders - one of the clubs in contention for his signature.

Fien's manager Jim Banaghan yesterday confirmed his 29-year-old client had narrowed down the offers to just two clubs, and said pen could be put to paper before before State of Origin.

I read it as 450 from Huddersfield , he would get around 250 from an NRL club.
Im happy to play with what we had today, Herbert look good.

I heard he'll be on $500k per season and is guaranteed a starting position in the team.

Obviously complete bullsh*t.

I'd take him, nothing more than 200 a season though and on a 1 year deal with an option if he works out. Maybe the clubs whispering it to put a rocket up Herbie - he played his best game today.

Fien has played origin and test footy, so I wouldn't say no.

Most of the Warriors team have played Origin or Test footy, yet you still think they're rubbish, so why is this bloke any different?

If Herbert continues his form, Fien won't be needed. But if not we certainly could use him.

Could have something to do with the fact they don't travel well at all and were coming off a hiding at home.
