Fien set to remain in NRL

UNWANTED Warriors halfback Nathan Fien will sign with a rival NRL club in the next fortnight after yesterday rejecting a last-ditch effort by English Super League club, believed to be Huddersfield, to secure his services in a deal said to be worth about $450,000 a season.
The World Cup-winning halfback was last week told by the New Zealand club his services wouldn't be required next season despite his hopes of staying on, before dropping him for today's clash with the Raiders - one of the clubs in contention for his signature.
Fien's manager Jim Banaghan yesterday confirmed his 29-year-old client had narrowed down the offers to just two clubs, and said pen could be put to paper before before State of Origin.
