I believe he was brought out of induced coma
Before the operation. Don’t think it will force retirement. He might so choose though.
Probably depends on the recovery time. How long till he can do contact work and risk getting whacked their again ?
Jack A Williams had a similar thing but don't think he had surgery. Williams was only out of action a month or so.

Also his propensity to risk copping another whack at his age/ what he's achieved is probably different to someone younger and more to achieve.

Full recovery means he can live a normal unaided life as a regular person.
Doesn’t mean he can participate in full contact sport tho, if he has had plates or wires inserted during surgery he won’t get medical clearance to play on even if he wants to.
In saying that it hasn’t been reported what they did in surgery and if it was minor still has a slight chance. My wife’s a doctor and when I told her she said if it was as serious as it sounded he has no chance, not her field tho.

Are people simply just waiting on tender hooks for the announcement that he's being medically retired? Seriously? Ever been told you can no longer do something that you love and are passionate about?

How about just thinking about the dude at the moment and what he's going through instead of hanging out for some extra dosh in the cap for next year. Same goes for WG too. I'm sure stakey has the replacements sorted already though.

The outpouring of thought and support for Fifita has been unanimous, but as fans of the club, people are naturally going to think about the longer term impacts on the club - doesn’t mean they care any less that he has a good recovery.
If you’re seriously telling me that you haven’t considered the potential benefits to the playing roster if he packs it in, I don’t believe you.

I had considered it prior to this injury, mostly his known injuries etc, however, I still don't believe this is the time to be discussing this sort of thing in an open forum. Not right now anyway, it's not a good look.

Would it be any different if he did an ACL?

Everyone here wants the big bloke healthy and not affected long term in any way shape or form.

It’s just theoretical and there’s no way in hell the club management haven’t mapped all possibilities out.

Same goes for Wadeo….. like Fifi another club legend that I’d hate to see play one year too long to the detriment of his long term health. Both these guys are smart enough to weigh up their respective situations and make judgement on their own terms.

But Feej, it is this injury that may qualify him for MR. You can't get it for chronic injuries. I don't think it's taboo to talk about at all. Doesn't diminish how people are empathising for him as a fella. In fact, people wanting him to retire now could be coming from a wellbeing angle. Like with Wade Graham, a player you didn't speak out about when medical retirement was discussed on here.

Are you OK Feej? This is out of character for you IMO

Sorry Cools, I tried copy/paste but it wouldn’t work for some reason.
Very time poor in the morning so couldn’t stuff around trying to figure it out.

FWIW I read it on Chrome with some paywall bypass extension, I don’t remember the name.
