Beattie carrying on about about Tonga at the end there is a little cringeworthy.

"The Pacific is the most rapidly growing part of the game outside of Australia ... You've seen that with Tonga.

"We need to get players out of Fiji to get NRL experience ... If they are getting NRL experience like the Tongan players do, they are going to grow.

"Hopefully, in five-10 years, you're going to see Test-quality teams coming out of not just Tonga, but Fiji, Samoa and PNG."

Fiji are in a much better position than Tonga already off the field and are arguably just as strong on it with plenty of Fijian born players as well.

Having a look at the website it seems this team will be based in Nadi not Suva.

Having a look at the website it seems this team will be based in Nadi not Suva.
Fiji are the better bet long term due mainly to their larger population of 1 million and its much larger numbers of participants in either code.
