Great that they sorted this out so early. Would not have wanted this uncertainty hanging over the team/Nicho for another couple of days.

I wonder which would have looked worse for the NRL, this or fighting it and winning at the judiciary?

Can anyone recall another occasion where the NRL dropped the grading after the fact? I can't.

he’s made that tackle a heap of times this year he sorta is already on his knees as he grabs the oppositions hips, it’s a weird tackle but seems effective for him

Said it in the NRL forum. The outcome is the correct one, how we got there is a joke.

Sam Walker, Nicho is better then you, and you know it.
You going to be outplayed 10 fold.
In the spine only position they have over us is fullback.
They have a 1st year 5/8, who under blow torch will crumble.
I think we win this and win it well.
The bench is going to be the hardest.
If you take Baldie starts Nikora
It will be between
Hazo - certain
Talakai - certain

Uele
Kaufisi
Burns

It's just me I am always concerned when we have both Uele and Rudolf in the 17, I would go with Burns over Uele, he has that aggression and speed.
Kaufisi is a very good defender I think you have him there, and also can play better minutes then Uele

No that’d be a first as far as I know. Allows the team to prepare with some certainty which is a positive imo. Mmmmm where’s Stalin?

Fair degree of amateurism by the NRL.

A dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle irrespective of the injury to the player.

Are they saying Hynes was originally going to miss game time because the other guy was ??
Because they have never taken that stance before.

That's exactly what they are saying. It's a fkn kangaroo court.

Obviously I’m delighted Nicho is free to play, and think it’s right the NRL have realised their error and fixed it early in the week, but it does show what a complete shit show it is at NRL HQ. They’re amazing at running the NRL as a business and making lots of money, but the running of the actual game leaves a lot to be desired at time…. Here’s what I put on the the NRL page;

Well…. As a Sharks fan, obviously I’m pleased the NRL have done this early in the week to remove the distraction (though knowing how fragile Nicho is mentally, that’s probably him cooked now anyway - it’s not like he handles big games and pressure well anyway).
Even though I think they’ve done the right thing in realising they’d got it wrong and changing, the way they’ve ended up at this decision is terrible. And I have to say, if it were a Rooster, Panther, Bronco or Bulldog player who’d been downgraded like this, I’d be blowing up delux, regardless of whether the end result was the right one or not. Really dangerous precedent, and just shows the shitshow that will happen when injury is a key deciding factor of the charge. The Bulldogs have 100% done the right thing, but I dare say, if we’d been playing the Bulldogs this week again in the finals, they’d maybe not have been so forthcoming with the injury update. It’s fraught with danger and leads to innuendo about bias.
Finally, as a rugby league fan, I don’t believe we should be banning players for these types of tackle - it’s ridiculous. Can’t tackle too high in case the player slips and you cop their head (and then get a ban), can’t dive in low at the lower leg (cannon ball style) as it’s dangerous contact and a ban, can’t tackle around the upper legs and slide your body weight down the legs (as we were all taught as a kid) as it’s a hip drop/dangerous contact and a ban - so now, the only technique left is to hit around the hips, and risk knocking yourself out if you get it slightly wrong or the attacker puts on some late footwork. I’m being quite extreme, but the NRL have minimised the acceptable tackle area to such a degree that the only place left is highly dangerous to the defender, or you can’t effect an aggressive tackle, it’s got to be ‘catch’ the attacker, which is impossible with the size and speed of some of the players - hence so many AC joint and pectoral injuries. All of that whilst the NRL have introduced rules to make the game faster than ever, so players are scrambling to make tackles like never before, against blokes who are bigger, stronger and faster than ever before.
The sooner the NRL accept that we’re a contact sport and injuries/accidents are inevitable, the better. Only deliberate or entirely reckless acts of foul play should ever lead to a player being banned.

Amazed at the prompt response by the NRL, obviously common sense prevails, which never happens for the great game.
Further to this, the NRL pretty much ruling out future finals at Woolooware .
Both sensible decisions

Have they made comment on this?

Definitely sensible, the joint in its current capactiy/standing isn't even comfortable for regular season matches.

360 reporting the NRL thought Montoya was gone for the season and thus the grazing on hynes tackle.

They found out it wasnt and downgraded.

WTF??

Its either a hip drop or it isn't.
Its either a spear tackle or its not.

So this is the new precedent???

Every week next season the NRL need to wait until scans are done before deciding on grading.

someone made a good point somewhere about what if the bulldogs didn’t get the updated scans or report until later in the week after Hynes had been through judiciary and copped two weeks?

I have some grave concerns re 'on report' decisions over the next few weeks.

So munch bullshit goes on with more to come.

Remember Billy Slaters non shoulder charge shoulder charge.

Let's just see who gets the old don't come Monday and who gets the get out of gaol free cards.
