THEY blew Brisbane away on Sunday but Dragons halfback Ben Hunt says his side will need to draw more on grit than flash to cause their second major upset in as many weeks against Souths on Saturday.

The two sides have split clashes this season, with the Dragons eaking out a 16-12 win in Kogarah in round five before the Rabbitohs got won back with a 24-10 win five weeks later.

Hunt expects Saturday's clash to be more like their first meeting.

“I watched the Souths-Melbourne game the other night and I think it’s one of the best NRL games I've ever seen so we’ve got a big game ahead of us next week,” Hunt said.

“Early in the year we just got in a tough grind with them and it was anyone’s game. I think we were lucky to come out on top that night.

“It wasn’t a flashy game from either side, we just grinded it out. With the forward pack they’ve got and the quality they’ve got out on their edges, you can’t give them too much ball.”

Look I don't think we can win on the weekend. They beat us well when we played them last time and then our side contained a fit De Belin and Widdop. I'm not sure if Vaughan was still in the side then. They powered through our middle and then ran around our flanks.

Any talk of Aitken coming in for Lomax is ludicrous. The kid is a genuine footballer who can also kick goals.
With the recent performances of Lomax, Luc, Lawrie & Pereira(admittedly forced in some cases)maybe just maybe Mary is realising the way to freshen a squad is to bring in some hungry, nothing to fear, new players.

Huge team effort against BNE. Can't drop anyone, the boys would be on a high.

Feel for Aitken though, just bad luck with the injurie.

I’m having a big turn around from my thoughts during the season and hoping McGregor does his cut n paste team sheet with the only change being Mann moves to six and Aitkin comes onto the bench.
Aitkin is better option then Field as he brings size to the bench and could cover a forward loss if required plus also cover for a backline.
Lomax should stay. Goal kicker and attacking weapon. He came through the intimidation of playing at Suncorp and gets better with every game.
Nighty’s time has gone. Will always be a Dragons favourite but I don’t believe he should play. The team did the job last week, give them another go, I say.

Look I probably agree with you Witt but does it matter ? As long as they go out there and have a crack that to me is all that matters. The experience the young guys are getting is immeasurable. To end 2018 season with distinction will help enormously our preparation for 2019.

Could work but......when Mann is on the bench, he covers all the backs including the halves.
If either Hunt or Mann go down during the game, not sure we will be able to cover them with Aitken on the bench (and JDB not running freely....joke).
Aitken is a stronger runner but Field may get the run for his halves background.
