Makes a big difference when the players outside him don't care that its not joey thats passing them the ball...

The Country players were running off kids, which is something the newi boys dont/wont do...

oh please...he was just as bad as he is with the Knights. He passed hospital passes like he does week-in/week-out. He set up absolutely nothing.

if you are seriously going to rank the performances tonight you would go:

* Preston Campbell
* Brett Finch
* Craig Gower
* Matt Orford
* Kurt Gidley

Kurt was ordinary in a team that did so much better than they should have...

All the Halves had crap games in what was a very ordinary game. Sure it was close only because both sides were as bad as each other. Great pass by Hornby was it to put Quinn over for the match winner? In fact Matty Johns got it right when he suggested Hornby go to 5/8th, Doogs to fullback and Kidley to centre. Kidley put in one decent kick all game, threw some good passes, chased down all the kicks (as we all know he can,) and tackled his arse off. But as far as 5/8th goes he's still got nothing, and Finch was even worse at Halfback. The origin selectors would've got nothing from that game. In fact I thought the game changed completely when Preston Campbell came on, he added the spark that was missing from Finch and Kidley. I can't believe you are serious with that thread title, I mean no disrespect but honestly???

LOL...when I got home from the footy (and the pub after it) i thought i actually dreamt this topic - i just couldn't imagine that someone got "this" from that game.

We couldn't actually work out where Campbell was playing most of the game - I thought he came on for Priddis but he quite often played at first receiver so assumed that he moved into 5/8. Campbell was the only half that would run to the line - Gower looked injured for most of the second half granted, but Finch and Orford added very very little.

As for who you would select in Origin in the halves...man i don't know. Maybe Gower and Orford? I think they will get slayed by Lockyer/Thurston...

I never thought I'd willingly say this, but get well soon Noddy!

NSW are in real trouble with the halves.

1. Orford - goes missing in rep football
2. Gower - was very quiet but was also injured
3. Finch - Started brilliantly then fell into the Finch game of old
4. Kidley - Solid but showed no creativity for a 5/8.

The halves I would go for without any confidence would be Gower and Anasta. Unless NSW forwards can dominate the QLD forwards, Locker and Thurston will create havoc for NSW.

Kidley had a pretty good game, yes. So did Finchy for that matter. But next great halves combination? If thats the case, then NSW are in a whole lot of trouble.

I thought they combined well but thy've still got a long way to go to be great. They were good in parts last night but nothing majorly special. Also if no one from last night steps up and is able to take the origin no.7 (I think Anasta can claim the no. 6), Dykes has been putting in a great performance every week since Noddy's been out, so I think he's still in the mix.

I'm still not sold on ANasta as the NSW 5/8th, his kicking game is rightly terrible, its in the thomas Leuluai league as far as picking out the fullback on the full

I think Dykes is out for at least 6 weeks.

I dont know why people arent talking about Preston. I thought he was great and turned the game.

He started out at hooker, but then Kurt was taken off, Priddis came back on and Presto moved to 6.

The selectors will probably pick Anasta, as he has always aimed up for SOO, which is a shame for Preston cos I dont think anyone sees him as a 7.

country forwards completely dominated city. So the halves should have had good games. However they were nothing special. Cambell offered more then finch and gidley put together.
