Just a comment on these rumours.

Hook isn't going to pay 'overs' for any player. If he has an amouht in mind and it exceeds that, we won't be getting either of them.

Now, if we take that as fact:
Finucane is a very good player, however, moreso at the end of his career, and would be looking at an end of playing career deal ie 3yrs large $$.
Pangai is a good player, but has been inconsistant lately, be that him or coaches or environment. Should be nearing his playing peak at 25yrs old. From all reports is looking to get out from the Broncos now. Although he would attract big $$ (based solely on previous form), the Bronos would be chipping in a % of his contract ie: the remainder of this year and next year. It would be how much they are willing to chip in would be the arguements.

Therefore, it's either Finucane at full freight, or Pangai at subsidised freight, however, in reality, they would just about cost us the same $$.

Agree...except we believe it or not, TPJ may end up the cheaper option....

even tho Finucane would be better "culturally", I'd vote TPG as it's a skillset we are in need of wheras finucane is a poor mans de belin (and I mean that as a compliment)

Just a thought… if the team coming last wants to offload TPJ…why would anyone want to snap him up ASAP?

I would take the risk with Pangai.

25yrs old, but needs a strong mentor, not one over-bearing, but one who's straight to the point. Change of environment away from Brisvegas to the 'quiet' life of the 'Gong' would suit him. Broncos chipping in salary fits our current recruiting profile.

We still have spots available before the Aug 1st deadline and it appears he wants out before then. I don't think WT have availability now without moving someone on. Broncos paying for him for the rest of this season and next is appealing and wont impact our cap extensively.

He must play prop though, no edge bs.
That’s the problem straight away - the high life of Brisvegas to the sleepy hollow of the Gong. That’s a real issue and either attracts only the country guys, locals or senior players with a family to think of.

DOGS’ SHOCK LINK TO BRONCOS EXILE

The Bulldogs are set to turn their attention to exiled Broncos forward Tevita Pangai Jr.

Retired All Blacks coach Steve Hansen spoke to Shaun Johnson last week about joining the club but on Friday he elected to sign a two-year deal to return to the Warriors.

Belmore powerbrokers may still be in the market for a halves partner to incoming Penrith gun Matt Burton, but they’re also on the hunt for a middle forward.

Pangai Jr has become a casualty of Brisbane’s bloated salary cap, despite being the clear leader in offloads in the NRL this season.

Pangai in a pack already containing Luke Thompson, Josh Jackson and Jack Hetherington could be a real strike weapon.

The Gong is not sleepy anymore 😉

It is clear to most Dragons supporters that we need at least one more beast of a prop for season 2022 and it would be a bonus if we had him this season.

Right now Pangai Jr from the Broncos and Finucane from the Storm are both available for next season and widely spoken about as available.

Do you think we should sign one, both, or neither of these players and why?
We should get both.

If we release Ford that should free up enough cash to do it, right?

TPJ has done something off the field that the club believes will be a hinderance to the club's ability to move forward, that's all it can be.. and with that in mind, I am sure other clubs are treading carefully before taking him on board (even with the discount).

On the field he's been really good for us, on his day he has the ability to dominate any pack in the comp so it's obvious that his personality off the field isn't something the club believes they can persist with. It's a big statement.

TPJ @ 25 6'3" & 117Kg or DF @ 29 6'2" 102kg . . if you're afrer a big fugger it's in the numbers hey! I get the feeling the ponies might be looking for a scapegoat. If he comes h ere any baggage is left behind.
