First Greg Inglis, now Beau Ryan

So Beau will be joining Channel 7 next year and then going to Fox Sports?

Beau will also get his own radio show with Sandor Earl and Greyson Goodwin, where he will become a political expert and moral authority

Who is Lauren Brant and why do I care?

I already know who Beau is and I don't care. He's been a douche bag for years on TV, if this gets him off it then you beauty!

Ironically, it's somewhat funny that Beau did all those jokes about "Fux Sports" not long ago. He could very well end up there (especially on Matt Johns show; the person he replaced on The Footy Show in 2009)

Either way, not a smart decision from Beau. He's only 30yrs old, and given the competitive nature of getting tv gigs these days, he could be left cold if he's not careful. His star is fading.

Beau Knows Centrelink

The Matty Johns show is funny so i fail to see how Beau Ryan would fit in

you have to think what the f**k was he thinking, for a guy who never aspired to greatness in the NRL I always thought he was super lucky to get a gig on the footy show

he will struggle to find another job in the media after this

Was this his decision or the networks?

BEAU Ryan has stood down from the Footy Show following allegations he had a romantic affair with former Hi-5 children’s entertainer Lauren Brant.

It has been revealed today that Ryan has stood down from his Footy Show commitments indefinitely, according to Channel 9 sources.

“He has issues he is dealing with that are more important at the moment,” said a network source.

From the bold part, it looks like Beau stood himself down and not the network, although you can never be sure.

Either way, Beau's career is.....screwed. After signing with Ch9 after retiring last year at only 29, he was well set up for life with Gyngell giving him a very comfortable, well-paying job after a somewhat average NRL career. Not to mention scoring gigs in musicals like Aladdin (which is where this affair occurred) with no background in theatre/performing arts vs. people who I've personally known who have been involved with performing arts and stage productions for many years and still can't score gigs of that level of magnitude....Beau can consider himself VERY fortunate that his media profile opened the door to such avenues as that, and producing music on the ARIA charts (with Justice Crew) etc. etc.

And as I've said before in the past, Beau doesn't have the versatility of Matt Johns to attract gigs from multiple networks. His peak on TFS is behind him. His best work was the "Beau Knows" segments he did was in the early years of the show (2009-11) after replacing Matty. And I don't think most of the audience he appeals to (younger females) are going to look at his clean-cut, charming personality the same way after this.

It's going to be interesting to see if the panel will talk about Beau on the upcoming Thursday night's Footy Show, or are they just going to pretend that he doesn't exist and nothing happened.

He'll get another job. He's halfways presentable amongst a sea of borderline geniuss. This is a world where Mark Gasnier and Braith Anasta work TOGETHER on TV.

THIS (especially the part in bold)

I've said on The Footy Show thread many times that although Beau has had his moments of laughter and applause on The Footy Show (e.g. "Beau Knows AFL"), he doesn't have the comic versatility and variation of Matt Johns, which appeals to various networks and demographics (e.g. Like, when Matt Johns was canned from Ch9, Ch7 picked him up and when he was Ch7 show was cancelled off the back of poor ratings of their AFL show down in Melbourne, Fox Sports and Triple M radio immediately gave him a gig and made him a central part of their NRL programming).

Sadly, like Terry Hill and Blocker Roach when they were stars on The Footy Show back in the '90s, I feel Beau's media career is going to vanish into obscurity. And in the unlikely case that Ch9 keep him on, the core audience of The Footy Show - as well as the audience Beau's comedy appeals to - aren't going to look at him the same way.

Aaand you're absolutely correct.

I feel for this Warren bloke and Beau's wife and kid.

At least Beau has a family to grovel back to, this Lauren chick just crossed herself off the wife-able list.
