Sydney will lose NRL grand final if stadium spend stops: Greenberg
As to the threat from NRL CEO Todd Greenberg that they will take the NRL grand final elsewhere if the taxpayers don’t cough up ... I call bullshit. As someone noted on Twitter, there can be no doubt that the NRL needs Sydney a hell of a lot more than Sydney needs the NRL. And sure, a grand final between the Broncos and Cowboys would go well for the famously parochial Queenslanders north of the Tweed. But say the Melbourne Storm and the Canberra Raiders make the grand final. Who actually thinks you’d fill Suncorp Stadium with that line-up? Exactly.

Well the Raiders and Storm are two of the better supported teams in Queensland... So yeah that'd actually be great.

I was just about to post something similar.

“But say the Melbourne Storm and the Canberra Raiders make the grand final. Who actually thinks you’d fill Suncorp Stadium with that line-up? Exactly.”

I call bullshit on this bit of dribble from hanky-head. If this is the best example he could come up with it just proves what a dope he his. A success starved Raiders fan base would travel after a season that got them to a GF in Brisbane, Storm have plenty of fans in QLD and neutrals could easily fill the rest of the 52,500 pissy seats at Suncorp.

This f**kwit is printing his wishful thinking again and just shitty that Onion can’t fill Brookvale Oval and North Sydney Oval. Lol.

He is reaching and it voids and discredits everything he writes.

Pick the worst matchup you could come up with as a RL GF, and it sells 52,500 seats. And it burns his bald, bulbous head. It’s hilarious.

If that's the case, we live in hope of it becoming a full burqa.

Webster is having a go at Fitzknobjockey in his 2019 predictions article

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/andrew...ing-predictions-for-2019-20181228-p50oj3.html

FIELD OF VOTES

What’s the chance of Allianz Stadium being pulled down and its new $729 million replacement complete before the NSW state elections in March so this mind-numbing stadium debate can end?

You’re right, slim at best.

Forget about the politics and the ill-informed rhetoric from people who never watch sport at the bloody thing. The stadium is out of date. It’s falling apart. Parts of it are dangerous. The toilets reek of wee-wee.

The funniest thing uttered about Allianz in the past few weeks came from the man who designed it, Philip Cox, who said it’s “still one of the great stadiums of the world”.

When the stadium was opened in 1988, Cox also said the stadium’s “sweeping, architectural roof” would cover 75 per cent of patrons from the rain. When the stadium hosted its first game of rugby league, it poured rain and 75 per cent of the crowd was soaked.

Fearless prediction: The new stadium will be built regardless of who wins the election and those who have been complaining the loudest about its merits will be watching from the fancy seats.

Will be interesting to see what happens at his next contract negotiation. With 9 owning Fairfax and him employed at both, yet openly at odds with much of their content and views, he may find himself without a gig...and I suppose Webster is the heir apparent.
