Flanno's New Signings

Saints signed 3 good quality seasoned players which will bring a heap of experience. If they can bring in May, Atkinson and Illias that is an even balance of 3 good up and coming NRL players. Make it happen Saints. Between Atkinson, Illias, LKT and Flanno they all of a sudden have great depth in the halves.

I saw great signs in the Couchman boys to become long term NRL stars for the Saints. They are the 2 that will step up in 2024.

I'd just like to get other formites opinion on the following, when Flanno first got signed up he said he knows how to put a club together, he did it at the sharks. Now what have we learnt so far, he's a hard arse, he wont overpay, he still has his eye on the juniors and is looking over his shoulder at them, he definitely has the clubs back.
Now then what else have we learnt, that the travel excuse is crap, if a player wants it to work it will, we got rid of our main culture problems, if we didnt have Flanno then Haran and possibly Millard would have been steamrolled by managers. And probably one thing to remember is our main concern when Flanno took over was going to be how much influence the board has, in my opinion I think they have let Flanno do what he wants. Sure we maybe a bit slow but are we being cautious, are we being diligent ?
Lets face it managing a clubs player list top to bottom is a hard task and no one is going to get it right all the time, but I really feel now we are not the laughing stock of the NRL when it comes to R+ R, we are not the pushover club we had become.
Anyway I'm happy with the club and its direction, the hard calls they have made and the recruiting so far, I'm sure there is more to come yet. For once well done Dragons and well done Flanno !!!

You are 100% with this justa. I think under Flanno we are heading in a more positive direction for years to come.

Great post.

Flanno is an animal.

He’ll probably move into a director of football role once he’s done coaching us to another premiership.

Great post and totally agree. I am so happy Saints got Flanno. My only concern is how he handles his son playing and if he keeps picking him ahead of others if there are better options. If Kyle kills it and Saints a playing good footy then that would be fine but if Saints are struggling, will Shane make the move to drop Kyle. I think he will as at the end of the day Shane would like to remain as an NRL head coach and will make the tough call rather than lose his job.

Yeah interesting how it will play out. Kyles off contract next year and free to sign elsewhere already.
LKT may be permanently in the halves in 2026. The hookers will be Liddle and Cook, so there may be no room on the bench for Kyle in 2026. But he is good back-up.

I think you said it in your final sentence Slip, ultimately KF was brought to the club as a 14 and as a good clubman he said he would play anywhere that was needed. He didnt demand to be put at 5/8. I would think seriously after Cook leaves that KF would be a 14 again, and I dont think SF would have any hesitation doing that. It would really be too obvious to have KF playing poorly and SF keeping him there when there would be better options.
