Flanno's New Signings

Holmes, Cook, Gutherson signed sealed and delivered. Things are looking up. If we can nail May, Croft and Ilias we have the firepower to have a real crack at the '26 finals.

Flanno moved quickly when Terrel May became available but he is up against super snout Gus Gould. May has mongrel, a big motor and an offload, precisely the engine room enforcer we need. Was terrific for the Chooks last year by all reports. Stats back up that with exceptional PCM and ET ratings . But does he have the attitude, that is questionable.

Very poetic HoD. But I have to spoil your party. Croft ahead of Atkinson even tho we wont have him before '26.
No need to apologise RVH. All are entitled to their opinions.

For me, Brodie Croft is a massive risk compared to Atkinson

Discarded from Brisbane Broncos development squads as a youth. He was put in a Storm talent squad at 16-years old. In 2020 he was released by the storm. After securing a contract with Broncos, he was released at the end of the 2021 season.

Neither the Storm nor Broncos could see him in their future plans, and no other NRL team was interested at $$ of ESL.

Although his is one of the leading lights in ESL, what other Australian super league player, unable to secure an NRL contract, has returned to the NRL and starred?

I reckon he’d be competent at best and expensive competing with current contract, though I’d still cheer for him if he was wearing the Red V.

Atkinson, however, has done his time then had a breakout year in the NRL standing out in a team that made the top four. Under Flannagan guidance and a firm position (5/8) he has a much greater chance of shining. His cost would be less and his age ensures a bright future at the Dragons.

I just believe he is a better bet!

I don't know what to think about Atkinson and whether he's a good fit for us but I do know there was one thing I did like when I watched him play a few times this year. He's a cocky and confident bastard. We haven't had one of those kind of players in the halves since probably Choc.

I think Atkinson will be a great acquisition under Flanno, he won't carry any Bronco or QLD baggage like Bunt, he is young in terms of RL career, initially I was all about Wishart, however there are several alternatives as reported.

For me, seriously think we need two new halves into the team, with everything having to work from a salary cap POV this would be my ideal squad for 2025:

1. Clint Gutherson (c)
2. Suni Vunivalu (rumoured)
3. Valentine Holmes
4. Moses Suli
5. Tyrell Sloan
6. Daniel Atkinson (rumoured)
7. Tyrone Wishart (rumoured)
8. Francis Molo
9. Damien Cook
10. Terrell May (rumoured)
11. Jadyn Su'a
12. Luciano Leilua
13. Jacob Liddle

Interchange:
14. Kyle Flanagan
15. Hame Sele
16. Toby Couchman
17. Jack De Belin

Extended Squad:
18. Tom Eisenhuth (resigned)
19. Raymond Faitala-Mariner
20. Ryan Couchman
21. Cristian Tuipulotu
22. Mathew Feagai
23. Corey Allan
24. Sione Finau
25. Dylan Egan
26. Viliami Fifita
27. Hamish Stewart
28. Loko Pasifiki Tonga
29. Lyhkan King-Togia
30. Jacob Halangahu

With a couple of these picks you are going to give possm a run for his money.

It's a good thing thinking positive, before Flanno you would need a straitjacket, with signings of Gutho, Cook, Holmes, it seems the tide is turning, if Flanno can get a strong Prop and Adam Douehi before 2025 stage 2 accomplished.
Stage 3 Atkinson or Wishart or both with more grunt up front for 2026.
