I have been saying repeatedly, St George need to extend Flanno's contract now, FFS if they extended a shit coach with Mary, how about extending a proven premiership winning coach, FFS it was Scumulla, not the Rorters or the Storm with endless amounts of brown paper bags.
Get it done idiots or face having another dud Rookie.
FFS we finished 11th with a -126 point differential
You reward that and you are accepting mediocrity
Now if we make the eight and go further that’s a reason for reward

Obviously you don't read other posts, you have no idea who caused the situation of missing out on making the 8 (Did you watch the Parramatta game?), even the media gave Flanagan and St George a B+ for there efforts after having them hot favourites for the Wooden Spoon.
Also do you realise without Flanagan we would be in contention for playing the Spoon Bowl,
2024,2025 and 2026.
Without Flanno St George would have finished last or 2nd Last -290 points differential no doubt, Flanno had a Plumbing business, luckily he knew his trade quite well, because the Shit he had to fix from McGregor, Anthony Griffin, Bunt and Co was mammoth.
Extending Flanagan’s contract until the end of 2028 is a must.

What makes sense to us in here is that your team has a toxic culture with a couple of ego’s running the joint.

Inept coaching and management meant a young kid diligently applying himself to his task was fed to the wolves and made a scapegoat.

Now your club has had to resort to bringing back Methuselah to try and fix the place that he left f**ked as it spirals out of control yet again.

In doing that Methuselah has again made the kid a scapegoat as he now also panders to the big egos who have and continue to trash your club.

Your club in fact doesn’t deserve the likes of a Lachlan Ilias so if you haven’t already worked it out f**k off back to your own lot
Only you and I would know off the top of our heads who Methuselah is Old Timer :)

So you are comparing Flano to the has been coaches that got us nowhere as a performance measure for extending his contract
How ridiculous to think that we are lucky we have Flano and have avoided the spoon
Wake up and strive for the top,it’s not about not coming last but rather winning a comp again and again
If he can not make the 8 after his roster shakeup and two years at the helm i see it as a failure
Flano himself, if he has goals for the club should also see it as a failure if we fail to make the 8
NO MORE EXCUSES
if he gets the results he deserves an extension if he does not it’s time to move on
We need to be ruthless and demand a winning culture not this crap of,we are lucky we have a coach that has made us avoid the spoon
Get the results and you deserve the rewards otherwise Move on.

I think for the most part the Dragons recruitment has been good this year but there might be a couple of problems:

1. Is Gutho really the man to dominate at fullback? For me Sloan and Holmes would both be better fullback options even despite Holmes playing centre for the past however many years. Gutho has been slow and uninspiring for the most part at fullback since 2022 and ideally should be a centre at this point in my opinion.

2. As it currently stands Ilias and Flanagan are not a top 8 halves combination. Flanagan has had quite a few seasons at the top level now and has never done spectacularly whilst Ilias had one good season a couple of years back and that was it.

However on the positive:

3. Players like Holmes, Gutho and Cook offer plenty of experience with one having a grand final win and the other two having made them. Each are/were rep players as well which I feel is important for every team to have.

---

My prediction is Dragons make the 8 if Ilias and Flanagan somehow create a good combination and one or both ideally fire throughout the season and reach their full potential. They'll have to because I'm not so sure that Gutho and Cook will be offering much in attack in their thirties.

Very fair and rational post. I tend to agree.

We will be a middle range team this season and perhaps get a run in finals. I feel the fresh, albeit older faces will be the best thing about the season. New voices, new vibe and a team that can surprise others on their day. I don;t think the opposition will rate us too highly early on and that can play into our favour.

The coach didn't necessarily get his first choices in key positions and we are still short a decent middle, but he has got some proven players who all would be motivated unlike some of the duds we've picked up in recent years.

"St Merge" did you think that one up you blockhead. It might have been funny 25 years ago. You need some new material. Souths supporters like you ALMOST make us Saints supporters (that marched and supported the bunnies reintroduction) regret that support. You realise that the two massive junctures in both our histories need to be treated the same. The St George or St George Illawarra Dragons club/emblem has had continuous representation in the competition since 1921 and now has 16 premierships. Souths missed two seasons. If our history resets then so does the Bunnies, in which case, we both have 1 premiership. Or......... We have 16 and 21 premierships respectively. When a big multi national company like Volkswagen absorbed and owns other companies like Audi, Seat, Cupra, etc, their history doesn't reset. It just evolved. Absorption / merging doesn't erase the proud history, it enhances it. Illawarra joining our company doesn't erase our history, it enhances it. Who decides what changes/ resets an entity? Does the Roosters changing from Eastern Suburbs to Sydney City to just the Roosters mean that their history resets? What about Canterbury Berries to Bulldogs? Is that a reset? Is the Bunnies being booted out for 2 years a reset? What about Manly merge and playing as the Northern Eagles for a few seasons? Is that a reset. I can go on and on, but unfortunately, it feels like I'm trying to communicate with a moron. And I apologise to morons for this.
A very good post there maestro.

I have been wondering the same exact thing Victorie ?

In the past they would allow such cretins to advertise their wares before blocking them .

Well this pumpkin from a cabbage patch has well and truly had his run , so please moderators block him - enough is enough .
There's also the idea of not feeding the trolls. I know, this advice never works.

Obviously the better method is to expect mods to volunteer 24/7, looking out for random posts.

So tired of this same old argument and its always from souths fans
If the joint venture means we had a reset and only have one premiership?
Souths getting booted and the return means that was a reset so they have 1 premiership.

End of story
Souths are 75% externally owned, yet Saints FC still owns 50%. That seems like more than the 25% Souths run at…
