Flanno's New Signings

No surprise with the Knobs running our football operation/department.
They even managed to screw up the signings of a new Coach (Ryles) & new Recruitment Manager (POS)
when they were supposedly in the bag.

As they say: how can you fly like an Eagle when you surround yourselves with Turkeys.
The broom needs to start from the top, otherwise Flanno will continue to shoot blanks.
I don’t accept this rumour about KiKau . Sounds like Bullshit to me. Mind you I’d gladly push the broom with you to get rid of serial non performers like Haran & Millward.

I don't think any of us we'll be able to work it out...

But it's abundantly clear that, for one reason or another:

- Location
- Money
- General ineptitude of our management in wheeling and dealing
- The current playing roster (who their team mates might be)
- Who the coach is
- Afraid of the weight of expectation
- Their managers having their own agendas
- Mix of all the above

We simply have a hard time in dealing with the open market, and are forced to accept crumbs. I still hold out hope that Flanno may turn this around in the coming next couple of years, and it may require us to get an astute recruitment and retention manager / GM of Football onboard (Scott Fulton currently doesn't have a job?). But, patience has certainly run out for all of us. It's time for Ian Millward and Ben Haran to go bye byes, who have been two of the great survivors since the Mary days !!

The current rumours about Brian To'o wanting a better deal out of his current contract (to 2027) do nothing to ease the frustration here (particularly after the Lomax situation and it's also still pretty clear that Hunt probably wants out but is being cannon balled). The NRL have to do more to clamp down on this stuff. The players themselves, their managers and the clubs alike are all guilty of this. The fans + other stakeholders of the clubs need more certainty. I'm sure the majority are confused by exactly what is allowed and what is not under the salary cap (both in terms of the official rules + what is right and what is wrong protocol under the spirit of this rules).

Junior dispensations or a draft are also going to be a critical requirement moving forward. This is crucial for us if we can't attract outside players (and also given that our Centre of Excellence at Wollongong Uni will be coming online soon - we are committed to the gong as our base). If we can't bring our home grown juniors through without the vultures trying to pry them away (particularly looking at Buchanan, Loko Jnr & Egan who could be major cogs in our machine as players on the current roster and anyone whom we pick up with freight transition out come 2027-2030ish) - then we might as well resign ourselves to being no more than a team that will just scrape into the 8, and that's also with luck and good management of player workloads during the given season.

Seeing panthers with The Chin on the weekend destroy us

Jerome moving on

I mean it is an easy sell to Talagi to be a panther just around the corner from family etc

we would have to do a brownie Ponga type 6yr deal ie minimum 4 to 5 years to even be half way close

I'm waiting for a Breaking News announcement that we have actually signed somebody (to fill the vacant position for the cleaning of the Taj Mahal and the club in Wollongong). The job description I have read involves cleaning out of all the deadwood in the boardrooms of the clubs and the Recruitment personnel). The owners and sponsors are concerned about the amount of rubbish that has been built up over the years at the Joint Venture Clubs and the Cleaner who fills the vacant position can clean himself out once his job is completed.

Reimis Smith also linked to the Roosters.
What a merry-go-round this NRL is at the moment. All players, managers, club officials going round and round and our guy ends up with mud on his face from falling off the ride and then end up with a sore head and nothing else to show for it. "No decent signings for the Dragons I'm sorry to report" he will say as he trots away rubbing his sconce.

You have got to have a laugh haven't you as the only thing left to do is cry and I've done that enough times this year when we lose.

Talagi has told the Dragons they've been unsuccessful.. looks like he'll be at Newcastle
My read is that he's told Newcastle they were unsuccessful

Rising star Blaize Talagi will leave Parramatta and is poised to join western Sydney rivals Penrith in an early setback for incoming coach Jason Ryles.

Talagi this week informed the club he will not accept their offer and will instead explore other opportunities. It is a huge blow for Ryles, who had made Talagi’s signing a priority.

Talagi was offered the chance to succeed Clint Gutherson as the Eels’ long-term fullback, but is on the cusp of joining the Panthers. St George Illawarra and Newcastle were among the clubs jockeying for his signature, although the former have been told they have been unsuccessful in their bid.

“The club made a very strong offer to Blaize, provided a clear path for his football future and consistently made it clear to Blaize and his family that we wanted him to be part of the club long term,” said Parramatta Eels CEO Jim Sarantinos.

“While we are disappointed, particularly given the opportunities provided to Blaize during his time at the club, we wish him all the best.”

Talagi’s likely move further west is likely to increase speculation about the future of Brian To’o following reports the NSW winger is considering his future.

To’o’s management met with Panthers officials on Wednesday morning to discuss his future despite being under contract until the end of 2027.

Some of To’o’s closest friends have left Penrith in recent years, including Stephen Crichton (Bulldogs) and Spencer Leniu (Roosters), while Jarome Luai and Sunia Turuva are bound for the Tigers next year.

The looming signing of Talagi will provide coach Ivan Cleary with another backline weapon, and means Talagi could be a potential halves partner for Nathan Cleary in the post-Luai era.

To be honest, I have nearly run out of things to say about everything to do with this club.

I think that I have been a die hard supporter of the RedV seeing that I have been following them for over 65 years. The first three years of their magnificent straight premiership wins I wasn't into footy, but by the time 1959 came, I started to get more interested in the Dragons and since then they won a further 8 premierships in the fifties to the sixties making it an elevenpeat. They were the greatest as far as I was concerned and unless Penrith can win another 9 in a row, then there will not be any club in the modern day who can eclipse those 11 straight wins by the Dragons in my opinion.

The sad part now is that what were my really proudest moments way back then are well and truly buried deep down in my memory bank now as I approach my 78th birthday. Now in my twilight years to witness the complete opposite of what the Dragons meant to the supporters of this once great club.

As Dragons fans we will never give them up, not in a million years. I only hope that Flanno can get us some decent signings to help bring back some semblance of how great we were in those magnificent 11 straight premiership years.
I also blame the original jealousy of other nswrl clubs, for the success St George had in the 50s and 60s. From the 70's, clubs had position themselves by appointing there own into major position, the likes of Ken Arthurson, Manly were the Rorters (Roosters) @ the time, buying the cream from other weaker club like Souffs and Western Suburbs.
The true Soul of St George remained strong throughout the 90's thanks to Brian Smith and David Waite.
The Biggest mistake St George made was merging with the Souless Steelers, they went for instant gratification, forced by the ruthless superleague administration at the time, the superclub was destroyed within a couple of years when the 11 million granted by the devil was squandered by the dumb administration.
Making the Souless Steelers side of the merge happy, they Sacked David Waite for a dud in Andrew Farrar and appointing McGregor for what it's seemed a lifetime. The McGregor and Hooks era will go down as the time St George I Dragons lost a good Chunk of supporters to other teams.
I have faith Flanno will restore some credibility in the Red V again, as they have improved, even being smashed by the Big Two and Half big guns in the Panthers, Storm and Rorters.
It will take time, but it will happen at lot quicker than what it took him to fix Scumulla.

Up until last Sat, we may have been a chance with BT, then......

Who would you rather play with, Cleary or Hunt?

Easy decision.
