Let's not get too carried away comparing our recruitment to that of the Tigers. Other than Luai (whom they had to pay overs for), I don't see their recruitment as being any better or worse than what we have done so far. At the same time, they will also be going into 2025 thinner in the pack with the loss of Stefano Utoikamanu and Isaiah Papali'i.

In the meantime - we've signed two current/former Origin stars with freight thrown in from their soon to be previous clubs, and it looks strong that we might end up with another couple of the same also on similar deals.

Before the tigers signed luai and turuva they signed Api(cook), Klemmer(RCG) as well as a few that didn't work out. Bateman and papa for example.

They had to get a few fringe rep players on first and then more signings came.

For all the fan fair on their signings. They are still last. Do have some red hot young players come through though

All The ones Flano missed out on and we went for just about everyone.
Even just ONE of those would have been some result
Instead we chased everyone and ended up with three nobody else wants.
The tigers have been last for awhile now and they still attract good quality players
Lets not camouflage our failures in recruitment
And how would you have signed all of the ones we missed out on? Paid overs like the Tigers and screwed up our salary cap? And by the way, all those players the Tigers having been signing on those massive overs - where has that got them? Another wooden spoon?
The only player we've missed out on for reasons other than not being stupid enough to offer overs for was AFB. And he went to a club that was in a better position to challenge for a title. And personally while AFB would have offered much needed grunt I think he would have sent our culture backwards, much like he's done at the Warriors.
Simple minded people like you think signing players is easy. It's not. But hey if you can do it better than Flanno, feel free to give him a call and offer your services. I'm sure he'd love to know how you could do it better than him. Let me know when you have landed your first big name.

Well said 77. I know you shouldn’t listen to the narks who offer no solutions themselves but they make bad background noise.

Flanno should have a good recruitment / retention team.

Their issues are far more coach / club related than roster.

Their recruitment of players is far better than their recruitment of coaching staff.

Positivity for the sake of positivity has a shelf life. I appreciate some trying to talk up our chances but it has to be based on fact. I saw a team run out nowhere near finals readiness and they were given the perfect stage and opportunity.

I appreciate the effort is there - especially from the coach - but honestly let's not sugar coat what is so far an underwhelming recruitment achievement so far. We are in need of star quality and players we can build a team around. And even then we need a lot to go right in junior development and fast tracking.

It's better than nothing, I can appreciate that but when the Tigers are getting more in the marketplace you know there's deep issues.
I think our recruitment for 2025 has been better than Tigers. Cook, Holmes and most likely Campbell-Gillard is better than Luai, Turuva and Skelton to Tigers. Luai is the best player out of all of them but our signings are better than Turuva and Skelton easily. As a transfer window ours is better in my opinion.

Rather than chase RCG or Saifiti we should make a big money play for Leo Thompson

He is young and has already accumulated good experience

Sign him on a long term contract, then chase Sam Walker with an offer too good to refuse

We were odds on for the spoon and it didn't stop Shane to get active in the market for the elite.

Sharks came it late for AFB. Granted they are ahead of us however, they didn't get him to sign using nice words.

Both Cook, Val and hopefully Reg are quality first graders, their clubs are chipping in and we are not just a bargaining tool for other clubs anymore.

Yeah perhaps. Flano has done his best. It’s not what we need to be up there with the best but he is fighting against a strong current that is the trend of players wanting instant successand more aggressive clubs with greater influence.

Id take Luai in a heartbeat although it’s a moot point.

Can’t stress enough how important it is that Sele returns next year fighting fit. Otherwise we are still two quality props short.

I think we will try to nail down RCG, that will give us a trifecta of improvement for 2025.. anything from there is a bonus.. including going after Thompson.. it all depends who we can offload, because we have some other positions to fill also.

If we were to sign noone now and hope to sign Thompson in the off-season, and there could be 6 other clubs for all we know.. we could come up with duck eggs.. and we have money to spend I believe.. its just how much is going to get eaten up with the players we are trying to move on.
