Old Nick is not stupid. Got a man in these talks to “ muddy the water ‘ !
Exactly, the Roosters were the reason the Draft wasn't brought in all those years ago (Terry Hill saga). I think it is bullshit that it is now a Roosters coach that will be part of this consultancy. 17 clubs and the Roosters are front and centre on something that they threatened legal action on before. It would be funny if it wasn't so corrupt. Roosters making sure that the draft doesn't water down their ability to use their money, TPAs, "friends", etc, when chasing players. Putting the fox in charge of the hen house. You can just see how it unfolded....... Hey Nick, everybody's talking DRAFT again. Ok, let's get one of ours in there from the get go to make sure we don't lose our cheating advantage .........
Hey PVL, this is Nick, I've got someone you can use as a consultant for the DRAFT proposal. He is 3 time winning coach and just happens to coach my team. No conflict of interest here as he is the ultimate professional ........ Yada, yada, yada

We are heavily targeting Brodie Croft. He wants to return home so his managers are trying to get him out of his '25 SL contract. Hope once that g happens Flanno will pounce before other clubs. Oh yes a a pair of mongrel props with an offload preferably.
Just read this from an England paper.
Leeds Rhinos Sporting director Ian Blease confirmed Croft will be part of Leeds’ squad for the 2025 season, telling the Yorkshire Evening Post: “He does have an NRL clause in his contract, but that has got to be exercised before a certain date. That date has gone way past now, so he won’t be going next year.”

Looks like we wont be able to even contemplate him being on our books before '26. Bummer. Am wondering, if he wanted to return home and had this NRL get out clause, why didnt he make the move before he signed with Leeds 13 months ago.

Why did Hunt sign with us for two years and six months later want out?

One thing though, why wasn't Flanno onto this some months ago? I suppose he really did not know which way Hunt was going to jump.

Anyway, I understand Leeds not letting him go. It would put a big hole in their roster/planning.

Yes interesting one, because it was pretty well common narrative in media at that stage anyway that the coach may not be continuing with the club. My curiosity lies in why did he sign in the first place as that must of come up in the resigning conversation, surely….?

Flanno quoted by Foxports:

"With the half situation we're just going to take a breath. We've got to be careful bcs where does Hunt bob up and does someone fall out of that club? I don't want to jump and all of a sudden he turns up at the Titans and they want to move one of their halves."

"I've just got to be careful we don't rush that one then all of a sudden he signs with a club and they've got to move someone."

So who does he have in mind?

Yes, I wonder as well. If he received half a dozen calls from player managers, he has to prioritise each one and then start talks etc from top to whatever he fancies and yet they may not be all that much chop. Anyway, the feelers will definitely be out plus he would have to consider in house players like Kade Reed as well.

We keep on about middle forwards and that is a worry. Why haven't we secured at least one yet?

Can we take a moment to appreciate how good it is to finally have a coach who uses logic.

Yep that was before they found out Blake Lawrie was being tossed in as a sweetener :D :D

Brodie Croft is a great running half, can defend, has a great kicking game, provides plenty of try assists, can kick field goals, is only 27, is experienced and in my opinion would be great for the club. Hopefully we can get him for 2025 but if not, definitely for 2026.
Dare I say it, but he seems to have a bit of the Jarome Hughes about him. Nice if we could turn him into something like Hughes, still got at least six years in him.

Just the third signing of Gutherson has made our recruiting pretty good so far, yes I know about the forwards and halfback etc, but we have a planner and a schemer, just let him do the do. History will show you what he did at the Sharks, I'm sure pretty soon we will be singing the praises of the juniors coming through as well. Gutherson changes all the dynamics of the team, so does Val and so does Cook, its been a long time since the Dragons had that. I wouldn't even be upset if we had KF at 7 and LKT at 6, they now have some good experience around them, they will also look after them.
