and I think max king is the grandson of Johnny king, so the saints connection is there.
He sure is!
About 35 years ago I met my birth mother.

When she found out I was a Dragons supporter she told me that her cousin married Johnny King. She ensured I was invited to an extended family function where I met Johnny. What a gentleman. He certainly enjoyed talking rugby league, especially the Dragons and his fellow team mates.

I asked him about his controversial and match-winning try of 1963

He looked me at me, smiled, and said “I played the whistle, and the referee awarded the try” I’m sure I saw a twinkle in his eye.

So, technically, I am a distant blood relative of Max King.

My mother also claims I am a distant relative of Isaah Yeo.

I think Yeo’s great, or great great uncle, is also Johnny King

I’ll have to confirm they are both from the same side of the family

Stay tuned

He was a phenomenal winger. I watched him play many times at Jubilee.

A watchmaker! Amazing.
They were an incredible collection of individuals in those great Dragons sides.
Yeah the story I heard was that when he was young in the trade (apprentice?) his supervisor wanted him to quit footy so he wouldn’t get his hands banged up.
“How much do you make playing footy?” “That much? Keep on playing!”

I've watched the footage of that game a few times and Johnny King was never held. There's also little indication from the ref other than to play on. It was a mud heap and no one could hear or see much at all, at best they may have imagined something in the quagmire.

The ref Darcy Lawler was no angel but the reason for the controversy was probably because Wests and Noel Kelly chucked a major tantrum and that made the news.

Ironically about 10 years earlier Wests won a GF under a ref that was rumoured to be crooked and favoured them.
You never hear about the Magpies crying about that one!

Thats rugby league folks

Liddles nearly 30, we still need to sign a young hooker. Cook finishes end of next year.
Our top priority is to sign one or two alfa props.

Our next priority should be to sign a top halfback on a three-year deal and rid ourselves of Ilies.

Suli is a problem at center and so, he should be moved to the bench covering back-row positions. Leilua should join the prop rotation.

I'm hoping that Flanno next signings are Hass and Katoa.
Klemmer > Frank Molo

Did Frank ever produce a game like Klemmer's the other night? If Klem can replicate that quantity and quality consistently, not only is a huge upgrade on Molo, but imo he'll deserve an extension
Yes, I agree. To me it seems that Flanno understands Klemmer and was able to give Klemmer the mission he is most comfortable with.

Klemmer a great buy for the Saints and a great replacement for F Molo. If he continues wit this form, I would love to see him given a contract extension.

Flanno should urgently chase:
Katoa
Haass
Tupau

He should also drop Sloan for Lawson for this week's game against Newcastle.
You're so on the money Possm. I think Tupau is the only one we would have a chance of getting.

Gosh, it would be a fairy tale to get Haas.

We must not deviate from the number one goal, which has not yet been achieved

Alpha Prop!

This is what we need, and suddenly the spine looks a lot better.
