Johnny King lives in Maitland not far from where I am.and I think max king is the grandson of Johnny king, so the saints connection is there.

met him with my dad and grandfather a few times a great bloke and great player for the mighty saints.Johnny King lives in Maitland not far from where I am.
He sure is!and I think max king is the grandson of Johnny king, so the saints connection is there.
He was a phenomenal winger. I watched him play many times at Jubilee. He sure is!
About 35 years ago I met my birth mother.
When she found out I was a Dragons supporter she told me that her cousin married Johnny King. She ensured I was invited to an extended family function where I met Johnny. What a gentleman. He certainly enjoyed talking rugby league, especially the Dragons and his fellow team mates.
I asked him about his controversial and match-winning try of 1963
He looked me at me, smiled, and said “I played the whistle, and the referee awarded the try” I’m sure I saw a twinkle in his eye.
So, technically, I am a distant blood relative of Max King.
My mother also claims I am a distant relative of Isaah Yeo.
I think Yeo’s great, or great great uncle, is also Johnny King
I’ll have to confirm they are both from the same side of the family
Stay tuned
He was a watchmaker by trade I think.H

He was a favourite of my Dad and Uncles. I remember how keen they were (Mudgee boys) when Western District were in the Amco Cup with Johnny King as Coach.
A watchmaker! Amazing. He was a watchmaker by trade I think.

Yeah the story I heard was that when he was young in the trade (apprentice?) his supervisor wanted him to quit footy so he wouldn’t get his hands banged up.A watchmaker! Amazing.
They were an incredible collection of individuals in those great Dragons sides.
I've watched the footage of that game a few times and Johnny King was never held. There's also little indication from the ref other than to play on. It was a mud heap and no one could hear or see much at all, at best they may have imagined something in the quagmire.I asked him about his controversial and match-winning try of 1963

Ironically about 10 years earlier Wests won a GF under a ref that was rumoured to be crooked and favoured them.I've watched the footage of that game a few times and Johnny King was never held. The ref Darcy Lawler was no angel but the reason for the controversy was probably because Wests and Noel Kelly chucked a major tantrum and that made the news.
Our top priority is to sign one or two alfa props.Liddles nearly 30, we still need to sign a young hooker. Cook finishes end of next year.
Yes, I agree. To me it seems that Flanno understands Klemmer and was able to give Klemmer the mission he is most comfortable with.Klemmer > Frank Molo
Did Frank ever produce a game like Klemmer's the other night? If Klem can replicate that quantity and quality consistently, not only is a huge upgrade on Molo, but imo he'll deserve an extension
You're so on the money Possm. I think Tupau is the only one we would have a chance of getting.Flanno should urgently chase:
Katoa
Haass
Tupau
He should also drop Sloan for Lawson for this week's game against Newcastle.
Doesn't miss many tackles has made 227 of 232Klemmer > Frank Molo
