Fleming is a disgrace.

You take 340 balls to get 100 and this is what happens, not to mention running a teammate out.

At no point did I think England would lose, purely because Fleming is a selfish twat.

That is all.

Oram, Vettori, McCullum and Taylor wouldn't have gotten out when they did if it wasn't for Fleming

ffs what kind of statement is that!

Fleming got 100 and still people bag him...

The Taylor run out was obviously unfortunate but Oram, Vettori and McCullum all f**ked themselves up. I don't think they will be blaming anyone but themselves.

If they came in either a) 5-10 overs earlier, or b) with the target at least close to a run a ball, they would have had five minutes to get their eye in before slogging. As it was they had no time to waste and did what they had to do for the team.. unlike Fleming who was selfish.

I was out and when I came home and saw Fleming and Styris batting I immediately thought England would win? I guess its all about momentum or some other classy word but it seems sometimes 8 an over seems more "gettable" chasing 330 but when its 6 an over chasing 270 it just seems too difficult? They didnt look for the gaps for even 2's till it was too late.

Fleming was going fine till he hit 100 and then he died. Probably the worst 100 I've seen in 15 years of watching ODI's.

Turining point in my view was teh Run Out of Ross Taylor.

Yea I agree. I don't think Fleming was selfish, I just think he completely misjudged the chase. Very rarely do you see teams chase more than 75+ in the final 10 overs, because the pressure is always building and the pitch is slowing up.

Flem doesn't look happy, the team doesn't seem happy - not looking good at all...

Radio Sport are saying there are strong rumours that the 3 games Felm had off over Xmas were not rest as such but an break to evaluate whether he wanted to be involved anymore...

Taylor needs to be dropped, he's done F all since scoring a hundred and has dropped a heap of catches.

Flemming was slow but to say he lost us the game is over the top.

f**k that. I'd rather have Taylor in the side than Fleming.

I was glad when Astle called it quits because we'd get Vincent in the side. We need another opener who can go for it sensibly.

There were 2 reasons why we lost both in the batting.

when Flem and Fulton got a total of 4/5 runs off 5 overs from about the 13th over to the 18th over we moved from 1 for 79 to 1 for 84. Our run rate dropped from a run a ball to nearly 4 an over.

Flem put preasure on the rest of the team to get the big hits in each over while he chewed up the balls. He may have got his 100 but he cost the game in the way he batted. When Talor was in we only needed a run a ball. Flem ran Taylor out who ws hitting at a run a ball and taking preasure off Flem. This put preasure on the rest of the players coming in as Flem wasnt turning over the strike.

Taylor's got some talent, but I'm not ready to devote my love for his play in the way TH and others have... his shot selection under pressure has to improve, his fielding has been woeful, and his running between the wickets amateurish.

Fleming screwed up, and he'll know that better thn all of us... but he wasn't alone, some of the bowling was awful (Vetorri and Franklin) and a lot of the fielding was (Taylor is a chief cuplrit there, but also Fulton and Styris in this game).

I think you guys are being a bit harsh on Flem.

He knows he is out of form, so if he ever made a score, it was gonna be Hayden like.

If the team plan was for him to occupy and end and let the more in form batsmen score quicker, it may have worked, but we'll never know.

Lat night I saw him improve immensely, bent front leg, head over the ball and the cover dive along the carpet, rather than in the air and being caught.

Up until now he has played with a stiff front leg, not much footwork and weight on the back foot for the drive. Definitely an improvement in his footwork, so he may have played himself into a bit of form before the WC.

Put it this way, without his ton, you may never have got anywhere near the poms score.

Its takes 11 players to loose a game.

Flem doesn't seem happy, and radio reports suggest that. I do hope he sticks around though.

Tremendously disappointing to miss out on the ODI finals - certainly the NZ odi team is far superior to the England one - in reality it came down to one abysmal Australian performance.

In short though, the team didn't stand up when the pressure was on - a key difference really, I don't see an Australian side losing from the position NZ were in (indeed, Hodge and Ponting made sure they cruised a few days ago).

In the World Cup context, Flem getting some runs is critical - yes he ran Taylor out, but that can happen - Taylor could help himself by keeping his head up and looking at what's going on. Like many Kiwis I am excited by Taylor - BUT, he's incredibly rough around the edges, and is certainly no Martin Crowe... but he will be very important in the next few years...
