The thing that stands out to me was that they had overpaid for players. This is my concern with Robbie, Woods, Blair & Lawrence.

Personally I would play Lawrence at right centre. I don't think he has been that bad at numerous times this season and the other 3 to me definitely deserve a spot. The tough question though is do they deserve a spot based on what they are being paid.

I can see Canberra making this mistake as well and setting themselves up for failure in the future.

Another issue is player recruitment. When I look at who they attracted I think we could easily attract players of that caliber. They aren't exactly top line players.

The rebuild should be even easier for us, in theory, as we look to have the spine sorted already (Farah, Brooks, Moses, Tedesco) and thus won't have to spend a massive chunk of $$$ there.
We just need some sharp signings for the edges and we'll be flying.

a good depth signing, a better option than Rowe.

He does though have a tendency to bring out the occasional absolute stinker of a game.

I'd drop Gavet, Thompson, Lulia, Rowe, Luani, Moltzen and Buchanan, along with the retirements of Anasta, Fulton and Paterson should give us some coin to chase two defensive back rowers to cover Moses and Brooks.

use Simona and Lawrence essentially as attacking backrowers.

Cherrington to cover Farah
Hitchcox can cover Fullback and Five-Eighth

Need a back up halfback
Need 2 good defensive back rowers
Need at least one depth centre and one depth winger

That should be priority imo. Anything surplus to that is a bonus.

Back row is a huge issue - not sure there's one good body out on the market, let alone two. Wouldn't mind keeping Thompson if so, as long as the money is right.

Is Gavet really done? I'm not overly familiar with the off-field stuff.

he doesn't turn up to training etc. Just a problem waiting to happen.

Free case after every win. Don't fight the problem embrace it. Training or otherwise he can be destructive and I would refrain judging players until we have a real coach.
