I place a bid which gets accepted, give him a piss poor contract, which he accepts but then the transfer gets put on hold. I appeal but every time it gets knocked back.

I think the key was tinkering with a few minor tactics, and also that Berbatov and Tevez decided to score some goals. Berbatov had been in terrible form for the past two months, and was lucky to get a 7 rating, but his last 5 performances have been 8, 9, 9, 10. 8. I have Berbs as my target man, using Lennon and Silva down the wings playing through balls. Working like a charm.
I beat Charlton at home 3-1 in the league , then held Benfica to a 1-all draw to progress to the final 8 of the Champions League. I got drawn with Inter.
I won my next match against Everton to put my in striking distance of the top 4 after 29 weeks. Im currently 9th on 44 points through 12 wins, 8 draws and 9 losses. Man City are 4th on 51, but have played one less game.
I think after the season I had i'll be happy with a Uefa cup spot and for the board not to sack me. I don't think i'll get sacked though. Their expectations of me was to qualify for Europe, while the fans wanted me to challenge for the title. My predicted finish was 5th (sound familiar Spurs fans?).
Crunch games coming up against Newcastle and Man City which could make or break my top 4, or even top 8 aspirations.
BTW, Akinfeev was totally worth the cash. He single handedly kept me in a few games. He now has an average rating of 7.89.
