Yeah I get that, I pretty much said the same about clubs being silly and breaking bank to gamble on immediate success and winding up f**ked when it doesn't come off as hoped.
Todd said today though that there won't be bail outs. I'm okay with that. If a footy club manages to go bust in the next 5yrs they have no excuses and probably shouldn't be there.
Sounds a tough threat but what's the NRL going to do if one or two does? They have a contract to deliver 8 games a week to broadcasters. No way $3mil a year would have kept the Titans and Knights afloat over last couple of years.
That's why this cap is so important. There is absolutely no way a club should be able to get in strife with a football spending of $16mill when they are getting a $13mill grant. Sponsorships income is around $4-6mill at most clubs then memberships, game day revenue, merch sales etc and no way anyone should get into strife barring total disaster.
