Steve Menzies. Forget about how good a player he is, you would probably go a long way to meet a nicer person than Steve. Tell us about yourself
I'm a Manly tragic living in the land of the Broncos. I haven't been to many Manly games live before the failed joint venture with the Bears but I swore if I ever got my team back I would get to as many games at Brookvale as I could. Favourite team and why
I'm a Mona Vale boy originally. Both set of grandparents were Manly fans from day one, as were my parents. I guess you could say I'm a third generation Sea Eagle fan! How long have you been a fan?
For as long as I can remember. Everyone who knows me knows I eat, sleep and breathe maroon and white! Why are you a footy fan?
The game has everything - drama, action and a feeling of belonging that comes with the tribalism of our game. How did you get into watching footy?
I think I was brain-washed by my father and older brother. Where do you usually watch the game?
I havent been to Brookvale as much as I would like this season so Ive relied on Fox Sports and Channel 9 coverage. But nothing beats being on the hill with my mates at Brookvale. Are you season ticket holder/leagues club member?
Im a Football Club and Leagues Club member. Which five words would you use to describe your team?
Pride. Passion. Success. Winning. Culture. The furthest you've travelled for a match?
Every home game I travel to is about 1000 km from the sunny Gold Coast to Gods country. I've been to about 24 home games since 2002. Have you met any players?
Manly do a great job of making players accessible to fans at the Leagues Club after games. So, its been great to meet quite a few players since 2002. My personal highlights would be finally meeting Cliff Lyons, Terry Hill and Steve Menzies. Favourite player
Steve Menzies. Forget about how good a player he is, you would probably go a long way to meet a nicer person than Steve. If you could spend a day with your favourite player what would you do?
A quiet beer while I talked his ear off and asked questions about playing with guys like Hoppa, Toovey and Cliff Lyons. Favourite past player
Cliffy Lyons or Nik Kosef. Do you collect club paraphernalia?
I have jerseys, socks, framed photos if I can find something with Manly on it I will buy it! My staff whinge about the little Manly shrine of photos and merchandise I have at my desk. Do you have any team rivalry with family/friends?
Living on the Gold Coast I cop heaps. Most people go for the Broncos, so its nice on the rare occasions when the Eagles jag a win against them. My staff certainly know all about it when Manly win. Are you a member of a footy tipping comp? How are you going in it?
Im in one at work. Currently Im 16 out of 50, so thats pretty much average. My only rule with tipping is you never tip against Manly EVER! How do you celebrate when your team wins?
I love to talk up our wins, especially at work. Its been a tough time being a Manly support the last 7 years and people always love to give me a serve when my team struggles. So, its great to talk it up when the boys have a win and its even better that we have had a few more this year. What do you do when your team loses?
I forget about footy for a while and avoid newspapers or league shows for a couple of days so Im not reminded of it. My enthusiasm usually returns come Friday. Which State of Origin team do you support?
New South Wales. Do you go to SOO matches?
Ive been to a few at Lang Park and, as much as I hate to say it, its by far the best football ground in the world! What's your best football memory?
I honestly cant spilt the 1996 Grand Final and Round 4 in 2002 when Manly were finally back. Being on the hill when the Manly chant went up, it brought a tear to my eye. What's your worst football memory?
Once again its a tie between Darren Alberts try to snatch away the 1997 Premiership and the day it was announced Manly was to merge with Norths. It honestly felt to me like someone had died that day. What's the most outrageous/ surprising/ strange/ dedicated thing you've ever done as a supporter of your team?
I have the 80s Sea Eagle logo tattooed on my left shoulder. I had it done the week after the 1996 Grand Final. Ive also bussed it to Brookvale and back in a day, being in Sydney for only 3 hours, for the Manly vs Melbourne game in 2002. How do you rate your team's chances in 2005?
Making the eight is a great result for Manly. If the younger guys get some finals experience it will hold us in good stead for a serious shot at the 2006 title.
