Look at this dribble on the LeagueUnlimited Home Page

Nothing from Johns as Nine's stunt fails to deliver

Channel Nine have produced the ultimate publicity stunt in an attempt to drive ratings for its flagship rugby league program, The Footy Show.

The show has produced dismal ratings in recent years and has turned into a comedic look at rugby league featuring minimal serious content.

Today, they made a dramatic announcement suggesting that Andrew Johns would make a decision on his future and announce it on the show.

However, Johns failed to make the announcement and Nine now face themselves looking down the barrel of false advertising claims.

At one stage during tonight’s program, host Paul Vautin claimed Johns would make his decision.

However, the Australian captain told the program, which is co-hosted by his brother Matthew, that he has not yet made a decision but expects to confirm his fate within the next week.

A tired looking Johns said the possibility of a new challenge is what attracts him to rugby union, but he declared there’s still plenty he wants to achieve in rugby league.

He confirmed the financial factor was not a major issue, as both deals will provide virtually the same monetary value.

Johns said he can’t go anywhere without being asked about his future, but said he “honesty doesn’t know” what he wants to do.

It’s believed Johns will make an announcement tomorrow. Rumours today suggested Johns had signed a two-year deal with the Knights.

False advertising claims???? WTF??? This bloke OBVIOUSLY has no idea.
No one has lost out financially from this "false advertising" so no one can sue anyone. Fool.

Yet they can play Twister for five minutes...

btw, I agree -- either Joey is a much better actor than his Eagles Plumbing Plus ads show, or he is goooone...

He's just waiting for the Waratahs to finalize their bid.

Which is shit, because if they CAN'T get the okay from the ARU or the full support of their "Friends of the Waratahs" circle-jerk, then Joey will be staying in League -- and I'm not sure I could stand to cheer for any team with him in it any more. He's lost all respect from me, not for what he does, but the way he is doing it.

I'm all riled up over this. Maybe I'll feel different in time, who knows. I know it's "only a game" but it pisses me off because I love League and this is making it look bad. Like we needed that right now...

I admire your positive attitude however did you see that every time he spoke about league he nearly put his head under his arm.

He can't face telling people about the decision he has made, I'll be he announces he is going to union via a press release and then disappears for a month.

Watch this space.

huh? what do you know that we dont?

Footy show ratings bad? i read that over 1 million watched the show when they were on the Gold Coast. Im not even a fan of the show but it wouldnt be on tv if it didnt rate.

As for the false advertsing, well every network in the world does that.

If joey goes to union it will be just like he has died.

He wont go.. He cant go.. Regardless of what anyone says, he is very passionate about the knights and rugby league.. Those who think any different are kidding themselves and obviously havnt watched him play, from the 97 grand final to the 2000 mouth guard throw against the roosters to the 2001 grand final. Its all passion.

I think he was somewhat touched tonight by the feelings of the panel and the fans.

he will stay.

Thats called bad sportsmanship, not passion you fool

I think it is a display of frustration from someone who is a very competitive individual.

I am quite surprised over the last week at how some Knights fans cant seperate Joey the person from Joey the Knight. The things that make up the individual that some people dont like / respect also probably make him the great competitor that No one can deny that he is.

You can question his infinate loyalty, his integrity (though I am not convinced why) and not approve of his character but not one person can question his consumate desire to win. From all reports he trains the house down and winning is acutely important to him.

Some of our current crop could use some of this level of desire.

Last nights footy show was the lowest stunt they've ever pulled, dud show "lets bump up the ratings", greatest snow job ever. I am sure one of the adds before the show said "Hear Joeys' announcement" Pftttt.

Has Joey actually received a formal offer from Union yet?
I know he said last night that both offers were about the same money wise.but I'm under the impression he's talked figures etc with the Union boys but hasnt got anything concrete in writing.
