Seriously, though - I only watched the Eels-Sharks game and whilst it wasn't the greatest quality game ever, I cannot see why it's labelled a snooze-fest.

But to each their own.

Because you arnt a neutral fan, and your side won 40-6....

Im sure a lot of Canberra fan's werent bored by the way the Dogs played, they'd be quite happy they ran at Fensom all night (especially if they had him in their fantasy side :p)

I thought the Eels Sharks game was the best of the weekend but it was a seriously disappointing round. I guess having the bottom teams playing is one reason. I just hope origin is a good series.

Yes, because Poore and Maitua :)lol: really? Maitua?) have played so much football this year....

Mannah was the only noteworthy exemption from your squad this week. Reddy to an extent, but he hasnt been a crucial part of your team this season. His loss is cancelled by Snowden.

When you can only muster up 4 unavailable players, 2 of which havent played this year, 1 of which who started training friday, your clutching at straws.

How much football they have played and how valuable YOU think they are to the side is irrelevant. They want to cry that they were under-staffed, then I will point out just who we were missing.

Should I also mention the fact Shackleton, who was on fire, suffered an injury and we went down to 16?

Their missing Gallen or Snowden was not a factor. They were terrible all across the park.

I think the problem is there are a lot of teams trying to be the Dragons and be 'clinical'. Unfortunately they aren't good at it, and it's boring as batsh*t to watch.

Give me free-flowing rugby league over a kick deep for possession game any day of the week.

Try the super league. Awesome. :D

Rest easy my son - the poster is the Knights fan, not ol' Scarlet face Phil. He supports the Sharks, which is fitting really.

And yes the league was crap but so was the article - had nothing to do with Origin players being out. Or very little. And bagging Inu, saying hes not an FG footballer after one bad performance in an otherwise strong season.

Tigers were missing 3 Test reps in Lawrence, Tuqiri and Ellis, both who are a key part in the attack.

Well I was going to post the thread yesterday anyway. Then I stumbled across this article, and reminded me. His article is still joke though, as pointed out by the fact Origin has had very little to do with round being so shit (no team with more then 2 players out).

The injury lists of the Roosters, Knights, Tigers, Souths, Sharks etc. has been the major factor, with Origin taking a few more key players.

There is either a serious lack of depth in the competition, or some seriously poor coaching. Because I've seen park footy games of higher quality then this weekend.

Either solve the injury crisis (near impossible), or do some serious rading of talent from other comps/codes, or else we might struggle to field teams 17 and 18 for a full 26 round premiership season.

Rothfield is a negative journo, and I use the term "journo" loosely.

We don't need hacks like him telling us what is good and what isn't when it comes to Rugby League.

Reading his articles just encourages him to write more.

FWIW, the games weren't great, but if you were going to put money on the lowest quality round before the season starts mine would be on the round prior to Origin 1 every time. Teams that have multiple Origin players are generally given that bye and teams that are left can be missing the players that make their team tick (The Dogs looked rudderless without Eddie Munster), which can lead to an average round.

Add a couple of teams playing like busted arses, the Tigers for example, and you have a poor round.

It's not rocket science and it's still better than the alternatives.

Lots of excuses there EA. Rothfield was right for a change, the weekends games sucked in a big big way. Should have stopped watching after Fridays game, fortunately I missed the Newcastle game, couldn't take any more after sitting through that tripe souths and the warriors dished up.

On the bright side, under 20's was entertaining at least.

Excuses, excuses. What about Parra's missing brigade?

Justin Poore
Reni Maitua
Joel Reddy
Tim Mannah

Not all those players are playing Origin. That was the point.

If you want to look at players out, Panthers had their Origin duo out, plus Gordon (season), Tahu (season), Burns, Seluini. However I won't use that as an excuse because Penrith had the chance to beat the Wests Tigers and couldn't go on with the job

well play one round over 3 weeks with Origin being played on either a Sunday night or Monday night over those 3 consecutive weeks, there's alternates to what we are currently facing the NRL just need to think outside the square a little.

I said on Friday night that I was thouroughly unimpressed with Canberra and c#nterbury.
I wish I could take that back given the rest of the dross served up by everyone else.
These teams weren't majorly stretched by Origin.
They are now 11 weeks into a season.
Surely their co-ordination and handling has to be better than the rubbish they served up.

Terrible round. Friday's game was the only one I watched in full.

I don't think any teams are consistently playing great to watch football currently (including those with byes).

On the other bright side, you get to not watch the only team you follow next season...

Another fail for you EA.

Is this sort of attitude a sympton of the Gen-Y short attention span thing? Or are some people posting here just kind of casual league fans and only like watching if there's "exciting" play?

All due respect, I don't know what you're on about here.
